Those are some great pictures! Love the ones on the street. The snow is so white, and the sky so blue. Beautiful.

I haven't seen any snow here at all :( Tim says that IF it were to snow in this region of SC it would be this month, but probably not very much.

wow, how ironic is that? Canada has to truck in snow

well to be fair Vancouver has to truck in snow.. :P, the Vancouver area doesn't really get a lot of snow anyways...

and the snow is coming from Canada :P

my dad says it costs 1000 dollars to haul a truck load full of snow...

 at least it's snow that says' "eh"

I know about Vancouver. I lived in the Comox Valley all my life, and I've seen major changes in the winter. There once was a time winter WAS winter! But I know it's been rather mild this year, compared to the last few. Can't say for all of the Island, but I know the Valley had basically no snow this year. I think there was a dusting or so in Dec. But it was a green Christmas.

I feel bad for Vancouver. I know they were looking forward to this for a long time. Back in 2003 ( I think it was then Vancouver got the ok) I worked in Overwaitea and had to wear a Vancouver Olympics t-shirt at work. Silly me...I threw it away after.....( it was kinda small, and I didn't have that much room)..

Hope you feel better Carla *hugs*

Maybe Vancouver can take some of our snow. My city is in a state of snow-carnage :P Hubby and I tried to come back yesterday and could not find a place to park. Ended up parking at a shopping mall almost 2 miles away. Its not a far distance and we certainly can do 2 mile walks easily, but hiking up the snow is haaard! I will post the pics of it in a little while.

And the good people of Maryland has done some job at clearing off the snow, except on merge ramps. Hubby and I were fine driving I-95 until we merged to 70 -- the ramp was ICED!

J&K -- My MIL told me that the snow is starting at 10 am on Tues and not ending til Wed. We will never leave our in-laws' in that case :P Gah, I hope your hubby has been resting :P We will def see more pics of him lifting snow!

Derek -- those are some crazy pics!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

ugh, I feel horrible right now... I should not have eaten that mac and cheese last night.. it was too much for my lactose intolerance ... I am usually ok with small amounts of dairy but the mac and cheese had cheese, milk, sour cream and that was just a bit too much dairy I guess...

Fortunately the Federal Agencies are closed in D.C....which is often a cue for many other businesses and organizations in the area to close too. Like my wife's work.

That sucks even more about the Tuesday system though...I can't see them closing everything down for two days in a row.

Apparently Virginia is behind Maryland when it comes to snowplowing. My wife's boss called her yesterday to tell her that the 395 wasn't even properly plowed.

Yeah, the Capitol is closed today so I got to stay home.

But technically the Canadian Embassy is open and since he is in the security department Derek had to go in this morning. He says there are about 12 people there, lol. He commutes on 395 and said that only the far left lane had been plowed properly so even at 5am when everyone is off the drive in was a nightmare.

I can't believe how out of shape I am though - I am so stiff and sore from the shoveling this weekend!

I am so excited.

I'm going to see pavement and broken social scene in June in Toronto. I decided it was a great way to spend our second anniversary at Broken Social Scene's Olympic Island show... my husband proposed to me at one of their Olympic Island shows... so we're going back to our roots. :D

Worked last 2 nights. I thought the roads were fine. Sure they were hard packed snow, but when i was out, very drivable! Coming home this morn on 495, i found it amusing. 495 is 4 lanes--the inner and outer lanes were clean, so people were just driving on them, the 2 center lanes were hard packed snow--thus no 1 was driving on them! My little Scion XB had no problems what soever driving on the snow packed lanes, made excellent time. People just need to learn to drive on snow, its not that bad

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
