So the snow in DC et al.....

  1. Why did they close schools, offices, etc long before the snow started falling?
  2. Thank you for having a snowstorm before I get there for my house-hunting trip. :)
  3. Please arrange for warmer weather by Feb 22nd as I do not own any winter clothing. :(
  4. Who has pics??

VA, MD, and DC are notorious for cancelling school and such before storms. Or if they get a dusting. I remember 2 years ago, my county canceled school for the next day when the threat of a storm was coming. We didn't get anything and the kids had a free day off :bonk:

Pics?? You ask and ye shall receive :D

It is a man's job :P

Gah, we are getting more snow too girl!

I told my husband last night that when I was packing to leave for Maryland, I had left all my snow boots and really, really good snow coats to my sister in TO. Told her, "It never snows there, I dont need these."

Hmmmmmmmm....

Unfortunately I think it has a lot to do with everyone afraid of getting sued. They really don't handle snow well here - which surprises me because we usually do get at least some every year. You would think they would figure it out eventually.

Crazy snow!!! And off course 2 RN's called in "sick" ya whatever, sick of snow!! Pretty frustrating to be short 2 people when ur full and when they have FREE rides available! Oh well! Work tonight, then off till Friday! Probably spend a lot of that digging snow, lol People have shoveled a fair # of parking spots at out unit, but still more to go. Guess they have ordered a bobcat, but didnt know what day it would show up!! Joys of Winter

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Those are some great pictures! Love the ones on the street. The snow is so white, and the sky so blue. Beautiful.

I haven't seen any snow here at all :( Tim says that IF it were to snow in this region of SC it would be this month, but probably not very much.

just talked to my dad seems like they could use some of that snow in Vancouver.. they are having to truck snow in for the Olympics..

wow, how ironic is that? Canada has to truck in snow
