No fog here; we drove north to get away from the snow in New Jersey.

It's is a balmy -7C here but I just bought myself a pair of the red Olympic mittens so I'm all set.

So I have been doing stuff and I have the tv on - many episodes of "Say yes to the dress"

Now here is something I will never understand - why people think, if they are paying for a wedding, that they have any say in what dress the bride chooses? Aside from cost I mean - that makes sense - but as for the style of dress?

I don't get it.

A bride just said - Well she (her Mother) is paying for the wedding so I guess I have to take her taste in to consideration (after trying on dresses her Mother suggested - which the bride didn't like).

I just bought a new television.

Having it shipped to the new apartment (for free!), of course, but I've been passively looking at TVs for the past few weeks, and when I happened across this particular model for such a great price, I couldn't pass it up. 26", which is all we really need...LCD TV, under $300, excellent reviews, AND it has this great feature for iPods, with a docking station that allows for it to be used via a TV interface and remote control. My wife loves her iPod, sooo...perfect.

Now all we need is a Netflix-ready Blu-ray player, and we'll be completely set for the next couple of years in terms of TV / video equipment. We're not going to get cable -- there's really no point when I prefer TV on DVD, and she's perfectly happy with streaming TV shows a day later.

I don't think there's much chance of it melting on Sunday either...Monday might be a "snow day" in Washington! That's pretty crazy about Tuesday too.

Yup, it looks like it is going to be cold for a good long while. Still have to dig out the cars too, sigh. I am hoping for another snow day on Monday but not counting on it. Right now just loving having electricity again and watching Hockey Night in Canada. Ottawa is getting their #### handed to them by Toronto.

Great news Huggle and belated congrats on the purchase! :D

(BTW Welland says hello :) , I'm back for the weekend.)

Thanks OBX!! Glad Welland hasn't forgot me!

Wyatt- Nice TV! We have a Netflix streaming Blu Ray but we don't have Netflix. Is that a waste? Probably. We should look into it... I just don't really know anything about it and how it works.

I'm kinda jealous you guys are getting hit with snow!! A couple feet sucks, but it hasn't snowed much at all here since December. We get a dusting and it goes away the next day. Bill keeps telling me to brace for early April, because that's the snowy month. Seems weird. I miss snow in February like normal!

We just had a really random power outage here.

It's kinda neat seeing our block in darkness and seeing the rest of the city in light though.

AND WHOA.

I'm an organizer now!

So we got one car out last night...still have to dig out the other. I did fall down the steps, and bruised my back pretty bad. Landed on the edge of the step. Ouch.

I haven't seen this much snow from one storm since I was a kid! Of course, we didn't care about how bad it was, we'd all be out sledding :D

We thankfully didn't lose power.

Yay...more snow on Tuesday! They say it might be another 6"

I'm pretty amazed that they haven't officially closed Federal agencies. My wife was quite amused yesterday that there was no mail service for her building. She understood why, but then uttered the USPS motto: "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

There must have been a loophole in there somewhere. :P

Funny but my husband's parents' mailman got through yesterday and delivered a bunch of ads/junk mail. My FIL went, "well that was a complete waste of the mailman's time..." During the last two snow storms (yesterday and last December), the mail has arrived, which really is commendable. At least their mailman is!

So when I was in school, I would rejoice at school cancellations because its instant vacation! But now that I have crossed on the other side, these closures are stressing me out :P I already lost one class last Friday and just found out the school is close on Monday too... And then of course, there is a storm coming on Tuesday which will affect Wednesday classes...

Anyway off to shovel more snow. We are hoping to be able to come home today. I think its nicer to be snowed in your own house :P

Finally married... and still married... ;)

so after our unsuccessful car shopping experience this weekend we decided to wait til next week when we should be getting some more extra money and put a larger down payment on a more expensive car... my husband is very scared of buying a car that will need a lot of work and I don't want to be stuck making big car payments for the next 2 years... :P

I was going to use that extra money to pay off one of our credit cards and get our passports :P but I need a car...

So the snow in DC et al.....

  1. Why did they close schools, offices, etc long before the snow started falling?
  2. Thank you for having a snowstorm before I get there for my house-hunting trip. :)
  3. Please arrange for warmer weather by Feb 22nd as I do not own any winter clothing. :(
  4. Who has pics??

Do you guys remember all that drama with our events planner and her son-in-law who married her daughter? All that immigration stuff.

Well apparently she had to go down and they grilled HER for 3 hours... is that even normal to grill the mother??

I really do think they've been caught.

They're doing a lot of investigating.

Uh oh.

I'm loving this story!

So we got one car out last night...still have to dig out the other. I did fall down the steps, and bruised my back pretty bad. Landed on the edge of the step. Ouch.

Ooooooh. Ouch. :(

Getting ready to go to the Walmart. <_< Need to pick up some storage boxes..... I'm going to be sorting out my clothing this afternoon. I am making hubby some superbowl snacks then I'll probably come online for a while to avoid it. lol
