I was wondering whether anyone could tell me whether I need to take duplicate copies of all the evidence I need to take with me to the embassy for my k1 interview. (E.g. original bank statement + 1 copy)

I know I have to take copies of all the forms, which is fine. I have that done. But I'm not very sure about things like bank statements, tax returns, etc. Do I need to take a duplicate copy of those sorts of things with me, or is just one copy fine?

Take one photocopy of any original document that you want back. They look at your original to make sure it's real, then put the photocopy in your file. That would be things like your birth certificate...you don't want to give them your certified copy so have a photocopy stacked behind it so they can take a look then keep the photocopy and give the real one back to you.

Just use your common sense. Do I need this back?

If yes>take one photocopy of it for them to keep.

If no> then no photocopy because you don't care if they keep that one.

Note on financial documents. You will need to have another affidavit of support for AOS, so don't give away any original bank statements or W2s. Turn in photocopies.

That's very helpful, thank you. And also kinda a relief-it'll cut down on the amount of paperwork I need to take with me. It's kinda what I was thinking I should do, but the embassy don't always seem very logical.
