Hello MENA, I hope everyone has a great day.

Anyone have any good tips for learning Arabic???

This is a good book to start. It will help you with the alphabet and connecting the letters. It will also help you with pronunciation of the letters. I studied Arabic in school and this was the very first book that we used.

This series is standard Arabic and then it goes into the Egyptian dialect, but this first book can really help you. Sometimes, I see this book in Barnes and Noble or in Borders, so you can look through it.

Learning the standard Arabic isn't such a bad idea. It helps you with understanding the news, reading...and other things.

As you go along, your husband can teach you the Jordanian dialect and the words that he uses instead of the 'book words.'

Good luck learning the language.

I was searching for books to teach Arabic for non-native speakers and I haven't found any that I liked.. All of them were phrase books or just too hard for beginners.. I really like the book in your post , ILNGT.. I think I'm going to get it for John :) He's been trying hard to learn Arabic words and we tried a few times to insert a few Arabic words here and there in our daily speech, but then we forget and speak English all day again.. LOL.. I love it when he searches online and surprises me with new words he learned on his own (most of the time they're in the Lebanese dialect) and the way he pronounces them and tries to use them sentences is just too cute

I really liked this book. The rest of the books in this series are difficult unless you have someone to help you with them. Fortunately, the answer keys are also available for most of them.

There are a few other books that I have found. I'll have to post those later (they're at my house.)

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........
