NOA2 doesn't make sense

I received my I-797 otherwise known as NOA2 a few days ago, after re reading it several times, I can't help but think there's an error or it totally skipped the NVC step. (The Listed Consulate, Islamabad, is not listed anywhere in the notice)

"The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any question about visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate. The petitioner can also file form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, with this office to request that we notify another consulate of the petition approval for visa processing purposes. This form is not a visa...... etc."

It's been exactly one week and NVC has not received my approved petition fyi.

Since it is a K1, It will make a brief stop at NVC then be forwarded to the Consulate for action... From what I have seen this takes between 2-4 weeks... Then the consulate will contact you...

It can take awhile for it to get to the NVC, I think the tag line they give you is that it can take up to 90 days, but most people are there within a few weeks. Just keep calling; there's nothing you can do about it for at least a few more weeks. A bit frustrating for you; sorry, but congrats on NOA2

It used to be that when you got that notice, it was 1 1/2 weeks and your fiance got the package, but now it looks like they just take their time, because this time, it was 3 weeks after I got that notice that they send me a letter and say it will be forwarded to the embassy in the next 7 to 10 days.

they are doing it on purpose and also going to raise the prices too, so it's not going to be easy anymore for the next wave of people that want to do this. I think they are purposely making it harder.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and that everything is normal, just one thing still bugging me though is that the USCIS website still indicates Initial Review. I reckon it may be a third party person who updates it perhaps; guess the Hard Copy NOA2 is more important anyway.

The USCIS website is notorious for not being updated in a timely way. For example, I received my US citizenship the end of last August - and the website's last update is from May saying they received my application . Congratulations on the NOA2 and yes, the hard copy of the NOA2 is important so be sure to hang on to it - you will need it later.

Yes, they dont update often.

When I was approved, my friend Lynn was approved a week before me. However my paperwork reached the NVC and left for Bucharest within 3 days. While Lynn's took almost 3 weeks to arrive at NVC. Its a mess.
