OK, I know i am thinking ahead a bit here as we havent even had our interview yet. I am wondering which line my husband needs to go through in the airport when he arrives in New York on a CR-1 if i am with him. If i am with him coming back here can he go through the citizen line with me? Or will he need to go seperate from me into the other line for visa's?

I am asking this because i had thought he would need to go through the visa line seperate from me but once when i was returning alone the passport official asked me why i was gone to egypt and i told him i had married, he then looked and asked where is your husband? lol I answered he hasnt returned with me as we are unsure yet if i will move there or him here.

So if the passport control is asking where is my husband does that mean he is to come through the citizens line with me?

no no no he will not go through the citizens line , along with his visa he will recieve a CLOSED file and in the port of entry (the immigrant's line) he will need to show this file and they will open it and will register his arrival and so on . so i am sure he will have to go through visas line :)

good luck

Thank you,

I was just confused as the passport control person seemed to think he should be standing with me lol.. So it made me think that he is supposed to go through the line with me instead.

Thank you for the good luck, hoping things move quickly and successfully

Where are you at in the process? I saw that you dont have your time line set up?

Most airports have an immigration worker at the split- ask... some people (posted on here) have gone through the citizens line..... so ask! depending on the numbers per line they will send you to the lines.... you can stay together usually...

When I came back from Egypt through JFK, they had let the immigrant spouses go through the US citizen line because the other one was so long. So I bet you can ask when you come back with your husband which line you should be in!!

I traveled for years with my husband (no GC) and we always went through the citizens line as long as he was with me... I clarified this a few times with the "seperator" who said as long as he was with me, he could go through the citizens line no problem... (BTW, this was through several POE's)... When he entered by himself, he went to the non-citizens line...

Thank you to all of the responders. It does clarify that he was expecting to see my husband with me because this is the usual process if we are traveling together so hopefully we will be able to remain together and go through the same line.

Good luck to all of those here no matter where you are in your process

Does anyone know how it is in Atlanta as the POE? ( I don't mean the experience, I know about the POE reviews )

Coming out of the plane there are two ways to go: The visitor immigration area and the

immigration area for citizens, LPR's and immigrant visa holders.

Is that correct?

So I choose the second way I guess. In there they have lines again for citizens, LPR's and

immigrant visa holders?

Is that also correct?

The closer the date of the flight comes, the more nervous I get.

Thanks!
