I just heard the Mayor of LA on Fox News talk about this. Interesting.

Really? Son of a B|TCH, he/she's stealing my ideas. grrrrr

Seriously, I think it'll work. Heck, short term, deploy a squad of Israeli Soldiers to each International Terminal, they be fast, efficient, and already trained.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Exactly. If you start pulling all folks named Mohamed, Ahmed and Omar to the side, your Richard Reid's and Jose Padilla's will easily slip through the cracks. Much less likely with the kind of behavioral profiling that El Al successfully employs.

Well, theres goes my hubby, brother in law and friend... Yes logically every person with that name should not get pulled. I remember Jan 2008 when Adam came, we took a trip to Houston to visit my family. He was pulled to the side in Atlanta (where we lived and had POE 2 weeks earlier) and screened with much detail that made me feel uncomfortable. Alot of stares going on and I had to wait a good moment while they searched him up and down. It wasnt even done where all the other people were getting searched, it was a clear small room over to the side. That was our last flight for now.

Richard Reid - also known as Abdul Raheem and Tariq Raja

José Padilla - also known as Abdullah al-Muhajir or Muhajir Abdullah

i don't have an issue with the pat-downs or the virtual fig leaf scanners...

i just don't know if that will necessarily alleviate the problem. With this latest incident with Abu Nigeria, dude should have been picked up long before the last call for boarding. It was an intelligence debacle. He never should have had a visa or been issued a ticket. If we are going to inconvenience regular law-abiding passengers, then we should also be stepping up our game with the intelligence agencies and the state department to make sure these radical fanatics don't get issued travel documents.

But what were the names on their passports & travel docs?

i don't know about you, but every time i go through security at JFK or Newark, the security folks are frequently fooling around or look like they are sleeping. i find security much more stringent in other countries, not just in Israel, but Morocco, Senegal, France... to name a few.

Tim McVeigh!! Tim McVeigh!!

John Walker Lindh

as long as we (non-muslims) don't know the difference between imams preaching hate versus those who don't, the possibility of some weak-minded suburban kid getting brainwashed by the wrong bearded wise man can not be discounted.

sure, we can go with the statistical sampling and i can understand wanting to do that. it both saves money and satisfies our inner urges to lash out at the people we hate.

but i'd rather see everyone patted down. heck, require people travel in hospital robes if need be. ban all carry on.

Adam Gadahn

If you don't know who either of them are, look 'em up.

Profiling Muslims won't work because the stereotypes don't fit the reality. "Muslim" names are not reliable, "Middle Eastern appearance" applies to less than 18% of all Muslims, women of all ages have acted as homicide bombers, you just don't hear about them as much. As long as westerners insist on ignorance and stereotyping for security, they are sitting ducks for terrorists.

Why not? You're willing to let it happen here before you believe it could happen?

People tend to value their lives more when they have fewer years left to live.
