Hi all!

Our case package has recently cleared NVC, according to the DHL website I believe it probably arrived in Manila at 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4.

I received the NVC letter today, Vicky already has a copy of the NOA2, so she's going to go for the medical asap, I'm going to try again tonight (their morning) to set her an appointment on the 888 number, last night they hadn't entered the package in their database yet.

Any comments/ advice/ experiences on interview? What questions did they ask? How was the interview experience? What documents did they ask to see? Vicky should have everything she needs paperwork-wise, my I-134, tons of proof of meeting and emails, chats, txt-to-emails, etc. I sent her everything I sent to USCIS in the I-129 package and then the I-134 besides, including both our signed letters of intent to marry, boarding passes, itinerary, hotel receipts, etc. She has copies of the NOA1 & 2.

She's sorting through our thousands of pages of emails and chats picking what she will bring to show we intend to stay married, have kids, etc. Any advice how many pages to print out?

Any advice? I've read they ask very few questions and the interview is pretty short, like 3 minutes. I'm very nervous, this is the last step (besides the POE interview), and I'm so excited for her to be here and to start our life together. I know it's likely to be approved but I can't help worrying about it, we're so close now and I just really want everything to go well.

Any tips or experiences or information will be appreciated! Thanks!

Dain

hi, nothing to worry about she will be fine, I just had mine last Monday Jan. 4 and everything went well. She needs to be at the embassy at least an hour before her time scheduled. My interview time was 7am and I was there already 5:30am. Interview was really short the consulate asked few questions only like date you met, birth date and etc. mostly on your side. Just let her bring enough proof of relationship. Keep on praying and for sure she can make it. Good luck.

I would not say it is a 3 minute interview it could be 10 minutes or 3 hours. The Embassy in Manila states that it is up to the petitioner to prove it is a legitimate relationship. Anything in your package that sets off any bells will be what they concentrate on. Questions like: ( don't answer I am just listing)

How did you meet? What were you doing there? Have you been divorced and How long ago was it? Did you have intimate relations? What does he do? Tell me about his family? Where does he live? What are his hobbies? What are your plans for marriage? What do you do ( entertainment or employment in bars may be issue )?. Show ability to support? What is both of yours travel history? Do you currently have any relatives in the US.? What does he drive? What is is favorate food? Color? Where will you live? Do you plan to work? How long have you known each other? How old is he? Where did he go to school? Does he have any children? Will anyone else live with you? How often do you talk? What do you talk about? What is going on in US (news)? What is his phone number? and anything else they care to ask... If they suspect something they will attack quickly with that and see if you can give them a suitable answer.

Copied and pasted from my post on October 20, 2009:

The interview schedule I had was at 7 a.m. today. I was already outside the U.S. Embassy at 5:30 a.m. with all the other people who arrived there a whole lot earlier.

In spite of the queue, I was already done at 9:30 a.m. The consular officer congratulated me with a warm smile. I requested her to allow me to just pick up my visa instead of getting it through the courier. She replied, "Sure. We'll call you when your visa is ready so you can pick it up."

The guy at Window 37 noted my contact details and told me the same thing-- they'd give me a ring when I could finally pick up the visa. That means an open date.

And oh, here are some of the questions during my interview (not in particular order though and I may not have remembered all of the questions):

How old are you?

How did you meet your fiance?

(I posted a personal ad online in December last year and he e-mailed me on December 25 as a response to that ad then we began e-mailing each other at least once daily. It took us three weeks from the first mail to start chatting.

The consular officer asked, "How old are you again?"

I said, "I am now 22 years old."

She added, "How come you posted an online ad when you could just meet guys around?"

My answer was, "Oh well people say that it's fine to broaden one's horizon. Cliche.")

How old is he?

What is his work?

Is he single? Does he have children?

Do you have children?

(My fiance and I are both single, as in purely single with no children yet.)

When did he visit you?

Where are his parents from?

Would you like to have children? How many?

Will you want to work when you get to the U.S.? (I said yes. So she continued...) How does he feel about that? (My answer: We have already talked about it and he said it's totally up to me. He is very supportive in all ways.)

What are his hobbies?

(I answered, "He likes scuba diving a lot. In fact, we went to a few beaches when he was in Cebu."

She asked again, "Did you go scuba diving with him?"

I replied, "I still don't know how to swim but he taught me snorkeling with a life vest on."

She laughed, "Oh! You can't swim?"

Highest praises to the Creator of mankind!

If your paperwork is in order (and yours sounds good) you will do fine. My fiancee (now wife!) spent 5 minutes in the actual interview with the CO. Your fiancee will actually have 2 interviews, first is with a filipina who is more of a "screener", she will look over your docs, ask some general questions etc. She will spot any red flags and pass them on to the CO. They asked my fiancee 5 questions....My B-day, my job, my address here in florida, the dates I visited her and what we did on those visits. the CO really did not look over her papers much, i guess he trusts the pre screener for that. My wife took some emails, chats too, just various dates, not too much though. She also took b-day cards and package paper with the canceled stamps I sent over time.

POE is no problem, just a couple of nonsense questions...."where are you going" "how was your flight"? The embassy has done all the work so the USCIS guys are not going to deny her at the POE as long as the passport/visa are OK (and they will be). They will scan her fingerprints, stamp her passport, add her I-94 and that is it.

RELAX!!!!!!

congrats

All these should be no problem for her, as my signature says we've been chatting for a year now, typically 3 times a day, morning noon and night. Night chats are usually 2-3 hours a night.

The other night I quizzed her on a few things (what town my Mom lives in, what town I grew up in, and a few other random questions), she knew all of them with no coaching.

I'll tell her to memorize my address if she doesn't know it by heart already.

Thanks for the advice! Any more will be greatly appreciated so we have some idea what they might ask.

There is absolutely no need to be there an hour before your interview appointment time. All that means is you will wait in line longer.

Hello there,

Just want to say Good luck to both of you... and to add that Visa applicants are not permitted to bring cell phones or other electronic devices into the U.S. Embassy. You seem well-prepared; your fiancée will surely bring home the pink!

Hi DainandVicky,

I just want to share some of my experiences when I had my interview done. First & foremost let her have the copy & original letter from the US embassy for her not to hassle when the security guard will going to check then just to show it.Be there atleast 30 minutes before appoinment time & only ask to the on duty security guard where to fall in line / wait because there are distructing people/ fixers there to hassle the applicants. pls believe me for that * don't let her bring phones/ electronic devices or else they will be deposit with charge of P200 or so( I wan't charge of this because I have my brother who bring my phone). Anyway,Top of the documents they will ask are: Newly updated Filled up FORMS & prescribed 2-3 photo ID pasted on desginated box on the forms then the (ITR (Income Tax Return,Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statment,Affidavit of Support, letter of employment (statement that you are presently working & job title & wage) & Pay Stubs for 2 months, copy of your PASSPORT (entry & depature in the Philippines) pictures atleast 10-15 or so but be sure you let have the copies that you enclosed when you filed K1 petition for her ok? just put all the pictures in Ziplock bag of you together & family photos when you were there because they will look at them to sure that you guys have each copies (I only had copies/ scan sent by my fiance last time) DON'T let her bring the photo album coz it won't fit on the counter/ documents window for collection. Let her bring her own stick glue/paste,staple wire incase she needed it you know always be like a girl scout. You did the good job that you sent to her the signed letters of intent to marry, boarding passes, itinerary, hotel receipts, etc. She has copies of the NOA1 & 2 and she has proofs of your meeting & relations which is very good. So Let her keep the all originals documents with her in designated brown envelop/folder, only copy of each documents to be submitted to the officer assigned for her, they will going to ask the orginals just to check they will will return after checking them. I did this last time like.. I put all together my personal documents with label

in 1 envelop, 1 envelop of my petioner's documents, 1 envelop for emails particulary because our relationship starts with this( very frist emails & mostly from the month of filing date the K1 is on process until the interview emails/chats I included too), then chats/phone calls history, joint accounts(if ever she has) or Reciepts from Western Union/banks (if ever she has this). I had 1 big pouch to be safe for all each designated envelops of all photocopies and originals coz it would help to look for incase they ask one by one, well it helps it went organized & easy for me to pull out such documents ,my Fiance/husband was impressed for that lol.It helps to calm me down for excitement & nervousness surely! Please let her remember your arrival/.departure & how long you'd stayed, Birthday, when did you last met, & personal questions between you & her. Just prepare atleast P300 pesos for the visa delivery once it is approved they will notify you for that instructions. Just let her relax, just be her self * presence of mind for the Questions to be ask then. Mine went great & I was terried it made me cried after all, you know tears of joy I can't express on that time lol. So, Good luck & Happy New year! Hope this would help for you guys.

Thanks!

Hope this would help!

Dain
