Activists plan to 'strike' at liberal moneybags

A team of conservative activists is laying plans for a massive "outing" of large corporations, said to include a lot of names familiar to consumers, that make massive amounts of campaign donations to liberal politicians and thus enable them to enact their policies despite ever-increasing public opposition.

Allen Hardage and Ken Cook, two activists claiming significant previous experience in stockholder consciousness-raising, state that their movement, which they call "National Day of Strike," will begin on January 20 to call signicant attention to a large number of businesses who make the largest campaign contributions to the most prominent American liberal politicians, and who also run, sponsor, or otherwise support certain media organs that, Hardage and Cook say, display the most pronounced liberal bias in their general newsgathering and in their treatment of Tea Party Movement and other conservative movement leaders and participants.

Hardage and Cook refuse to name any names in advance of January 20. When asked for such names, they consistently advise any questioner to wait until then. They give two reasons for withholding this information:

To preserve the element of surprise, and

To complete research aimed at identifying as many of these corporate donors as possible.

Hardage and Cook also emphasize that their movement will not limit its activities to January 20, only.

When you rent an apartment to someone, and you have to kick them out, you don't just show up with a moving truck and start taking out their furniture. You serve notice on him first. And that's what this movement is about.....<snip>

These two people have the list and will release it on Jan 20th.

Do you think it will have an effect, I know I avoid companies which donate heavily to causes I am against, not sure if anyone else does.

By all means, you should boycott companies you are philosophically opposed to. That is your right as a consumer.

And by all means, political contributions above a certain size should be publicly disclosed - no matter who is making them, and which political cause or party or candidate they happen to be supporting. I'm all in favor of extensive sunshine and campaign-finance reform to make these donations public. We shouldn't need to have them "outed" - they should be "out" as a matter of course.

I do hope you were in favor of McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform when it came out? I hope you were as disgusted as I was by Mitch McConnell's fighting tooth and nail against it?
