Hey Guys,

My wife came here on a k1 visa and we have filed for AOS (still pending)

She lived in Texas when we met as she was an exchange teacher working at an elementary school. I believe she did this for 3 years.

Now that she is back here and waiting AOS, we started looking into getting her to teach again.

Looking at the Texas Education Agency about how to have her credentials certified to teach in texas they want to provide all docs approved by yet another agency which will evaluate her grades and courses.

She has like 40 little pieces of paper, one per class with the description and the grade... Will she have to have all of those translated and evaluated? Seems like there is something here we might be missing.

Any other Germans in the forums go through a similar situation?

Thanks in advance for the help

Hi there,

I supposed those 40 little pieces of paper are the so-called "Scheine". Unfortunately, evaluation agency don't accept those "Scheine". They need a transcript that lists all the courses and grades.

I know of people who have been in a similar situation. The easiest way is to ask a professor or the "Studentenamt" (admissions/registrations office) of your wife's former college if they can create you a transcript that lists all the courses and grades. That's what I did for my college classes. I created a transcript (in English, so I wouldn't have to fork out the money to get it translated again), had my professor sign and then mail it to the evaluation agency.

The evaluation agency will forward a copy of the evaluated courses and grades to the Education Agency or to whichever other agency you specified.

Thanks for the response Stephanie.

This is the same that I was thinking.

She went to the University of Rostock and before contacting them, she thought obtaining a transcript of all courses taken would be a futile attempt.

I will show her this thread and your advise, thanks!

Any other advise?

Well, my best bet would be if she asked a professor she is familiar with or one that knows her very well (maybe the one who was her advisor during her thesis?!).

The transcript has to have the University logo so that it looks like a "real" transcript. My professor just put the college's header above the transcript and signed it on the bottom. The evaluation agency accepted it right away - no questions asked. It just has to look official.

There is another forum member from Germany (Her name is Thea) who did the same and it worked for her as well.

She could even make her very own transcript (with English translations, university logo etc.) and ask someone from her former university to stamp it, sign it and send it off.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Credit evaluations are very confusing. Good luck to your wife and you!
