I think they do some background checks there....I am unclear of what they do too. What all did you have to send to them? I have read that original certificates with the DS-230 (marriage, birth, police clearances, divorce decrees). Of course some of these we sent and had to send originals to the USCIS or CSC...whatever you want to call it. We're still waiting on NOA2.....i will have to make another phone call this week i think.

i didnt have to send anything to them at all!!!! last week they gave me my case # for manila said that it was going out by the end of last week i called today and they told me that!!!!

they're simply taking a longer time evaluating your docs...that's all...just be patient...at least they haven't asked for addtl docs yet, and they might not.

For K-1s, I believe NVC only assigns a case number.

i dont know what it means, but in the flowchart it says they could have your case there 1-4 weeks normally. Hopefully it will be sent down there soon.

you're one of the unlucky ones who chosen to be in AP/AR by NVC some took 2 months keep calling them

It is an additional FBI check that is usually triggered by some flag raised at USCIS. Expect a month or so and if you were recently divorced expect a call from someone looking for your ex (NVC)

Unfortunately, sometimes name checks/background checks are also conducted at the NVC stage.

Hopefully, your AP/AR will be short-lived.

Yep. Expect a month in AP unless they are telling you a false AP. Sometimes they say AP just because it hasn't left for the consulate yet. If it's AP then there is nothing that can be done to speed things up at least for the first month or two. Should be out in 30 days or so. Be polite if they call.

Visa petitions are placed through security name checks at three (3) locations: 1. USCIS office, 2. National Visa Center (NVC) and 3. the U.S. Consulate where the visa is ultimately issued.
