Ok, so I went back like 30 pages and couldn't find the AOS thread from the spring or the one that Sam started. So, lets start a new one for all of us that had interviews recently and are going through AOS.

So call me a noob, but I can't find where my Visa Issue number is, or which number is my I-94 #.

Thanks!

05/30/2012 - Sent ROC packet to VSC

The visa issue number should be on your Visa, the Visa# - it's 8 or 9 numbers depending on if they put the 0 in front of it. Mine was also hand written on the back of my I-94.

I can't remember exactly where the I-94 number is, but it's right on front of the card, the font is a bit different from the rest of the card. It's kind of a short number. You have to give them a copy of the I-94 anyways, so even if you get it wrong, they'll find it.

I-94 number is, I'm assuming, that Departure number along the top left-hand corner. That's what I've used, anyhow.

A# is along the bottom of the visa, or on the NOA2. Visa number is in red on the actual Visa, along the right side.

My curiosity is, by reading through some of the AOS cover letters that others have posted, they sent in a copy of the front AND back of the I-94... Um, how? Mine's stapled to the second page of my passport, so the only way I could send the back (which is blank) is if I were to remove the staple and then restaple it (which I'm not going to go) or fold over the page somehow to get it all. Seems odd, as there's nothing really written on the back anyhow.

Also, has anyone tried getting IRS transcripts lately? Goodness, they removed the automated system so you now have to sit on hold forever. We finally gave up (after trying on three different occasions) and mailed in our request today.

You can take it out and re-staple it, they won't say anything. When I first crossed they didn't even staple it in and my A# was written on the back of it. Funny how inconsistent they are. The second time I went through immigration the guy just ripped it out of my passport and goes "You don't need this anymore" (it was from when I crossed with AP).

I used the departure # like Sam and it was fine.

I also re-stapled mine after photocopying it. No issues so far, just do it carefully and they probably won't even notice!

I'll be filing February 1st, hopefully.

Going to get everything done before the wedding and send it a few days after the wedding.

Yeah, same here about the I-94. I removed it then stapled it back in after I was done copying it. Sometimes they do write things on the back- mine had my A# written in pen like Sapphire. Sometimes they can write little notes or conditions, which is probably why they want to see both sides, just to get all the information. At my AOS interview the first thing the IO did was remove my I-94 and put it into my immigration file. I used the departure number as my I-94 number as well.

The form to subscribe to text/email notifications is really nifty. Definitely sending that in.

I'm almost done filling in everything as of right now, just waiting on Ben's tax transcripts and our certified marriage license after the wedding. If it wasn't for those holdups, we could send it on Monday.

Funnily enough, I was printing all of the stuff I had completed yesterday, and when I went to sign some of the forms, I realized that I needed to figure out whatever my new signature was going to be. Can't sign in that maiden name, haha. So I spent awhile trying to figure that out. Ben came home from work to hear me growling myself over a piece of paper with scribble lines all over it.

i had that problem too! and i realized it a couple of months after i got married. lol. so my coworkers in accounting told me use my signature with my maiden name and just add the signature with my married name. so if i ever face a financial/bank problem (& my passport has my maiden signature on it), they can make the comparison from my old one to my new one. My signature is pretty long & not as pretty as my maiden signature IMO but it does its job. lol.
