I am not sure if I am in the right forum, however, i am writing here. I have separated about four months ago from my husband, becuas I have found out that he fruadullently married me for a green card. When I throu him out he left alot of important information at home.

My friend and I found all of his chats, emails and telephone conversations he was having wit his traditional wife from Cameroon, he was recording all of his conversations with his wife there, his family and other friends. We found this here all stored in a memory stick. We played the audios, read all of thechats and emails he saved in the memory stick.. he himself admitted that if he is ever found out, that it would cost him his papers.

Unknown to me he had a family, that is a mother and brothers , (he told me that his mom died when he was 3 years old) a traditional wife and children in Cameroon..

I have reported him to ICE about 2 months ago. Nov 12th, 2009.

To this day I have not heard anything from ICE, since I am the one who has all the proofs with me. Is there anythin else I can do to speed this process?

Should I file for a divorce now or wait until ICE investigate, and finds him guilty? or wait to get an annullement?

i just need guidance at this point... I want his behind me....

thank you...

While ICE may contact you for the proof/ as a witness, it is possible you'll never hear from them, whether they do something or not. I don't think you can file for an annulment, because you were married a while and the other wife is "traditional" (by this I assume you mean they are not legally married). you can file for divorce now, it won't affect anything ICE might do.

I reported my husband as fraud to the embassy in CR, verbally and with a letter as a follow-up. I also reported him to ICE because the embassy suggested it. I never heard from ICE and I only just received an e-mail from the USCIS just generally stating my case was recieved by them and it is being reviewed and that they will contact me if they need anything.

I am guessing this kind of thing isn't high on thier list of things to do. I have to wait 11 months before I can file for a divorce in CR.

Report your husband to the embassy where you interviewed. Send a letter also.

Be rid of his lying butt and move on... I had to and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.

Good luck

this country is messed up. How much fraud does one has to commit in order to do anything?

If it was the other way around, immigration would of taken the proper steps...I hear this day in and day out, we are being victimized by these criminals, well that is how the agent refered to him as a criminal..

yes, traditional as in not legally well in the USA anyway, because in their country it appplies.

Ok, when I file for a divorce, it will be based on fraudulent mariage, and physical abuse.

thank you.

dear Sister, I am sorry you have been a victim by another criminal, I have written to the US embassy in Cameroon, I have tried to call them the line is always busy.. At first I have reported him to the USA boders when I was coming back from Canada, I spent almost 3 hours in their office, and they seem to deem these matters very seriuously!

I had alot to tell them, its not only immigration benefits, there are children involved, which I found out, a few months ago... he lied on his first application about having children, lied on his removing condition, immigration pulled out his file, so at least he is flagged at that point, the rest I will just have to wait and see,, I have contacted my senator, and I will contact my congressman, woman that is. I will get petitons signed if I need to, I have talked to alot of people about that and people are quite raged by this behavior...I have moved on, but it does not mean that I will sit on my azz and do nothing, that is what the are hoping for.. thank you for your advice and good luck to you sister....

when you get a hold of someone in immigration who will actually do something, please share that information. I am so frustrated with this country. They have so many immigration laws and say it is very serious if they are violated but when they are presented with mounds of evidence for illegal immigrants breaking every law, they do nothing and it almost seems like they turn their cheek as to ignore the reports. Honestly, it frustrates me to no end. I agree that you should not sit and do nothing.... I have taken a few measures to insure my husband will never be permitted to enter this country legally ever. But that won't stop him from entering through mexico and living here like every other illegal... UGHHHHHHHHH GOOD LUCK keep me informed send me a PM with what you find out. Much appreciated ! Happy New Year ....

Why is this country messed up? You met this person, you married this person, you brought this person here.

The country (government) can only do so much.

You contacted ICE. File for divorce and move on.

Now that he has the GC - it's really out of your hands. ICE/USCIS will probably not come back to report to you what they decided (privacy laws), but they will contact you if they require more information.

From what you posted - it would be easy to prove the marriage was entered to obtain immigration benefits.

If you have a case of physical abuse, then get the police involved.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

moved from Waivers forum as this one is more appropriate

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

If his marriage was legally binding in Cameroon he wasn't free to marry you in the USA so you can probably get an annulment or divorce based on that?

Hello and Sorry to know that you have experienced this hurt. I wanted to touch bases with you on your concerns, but please know that you may not hear back from ICE and any appointment you make with them might not yield any more answers than you can receive on VJ.

You can send an AFFIDAVIT stating what you've found and have it notarized. Include copies of the evidence with the AFFIDAVIT. Don't be surprised if you don't get an answer.

Call immigration at different times of the night and ask to have the case escalated. If they tell you they can't, say thank you, call again at another time. Another option is that you can get an annulment and send that information to immigration.

If you'd like more information, I can try to share different things that I know others have tried, but there's no way to know what will happen after that. However, I do hope that you are able to some how heal after this experience.

Hugs

Chispas

Thank you for all of your comments.. I am surprisingly doing very well, and moving on, I am better of alone rather than being use and abuse..

I have contacted my senator, and they are working on the case. those of you who seems to be insulted by my comments, plz, do not even reply, as I have ignored your comments... If ICE agent said "it is a fraud and referred to him as a criminal" than so be it..it is..

and people in this country go to jail/prison for such act.. I have chosen to do something about it, as I am moving on..Such act has happened to too many women and men of this country and perhaps its time to thoughen the laws....That is my goal..

thank you............................

You have a very good point!

I would focus on that: was he legally able to enter into this new marriage to begin with? If not, it might (I don't know US or Cameroon law on this) indeed be a possible ground for annulment plus this might also make things difficult for the immigrant, who got his GC based on this marriage.

as long as his marriage in his own country is recognized by some authorities you should be good to go. Shoudln't be any different "common law marriage" in TX.

Also entering into marriage for immigration purposes is good enough to annull the marriage...
