I'm really confused by all this, is the OP and documents listed in the OP still up to date? They took all my forms/papers when I entered the US on a K-1 visa and I haven't got them back. Will I need any of those forms? Also, why do I need another affidavit of support if I already prepared one to get the visa?

I found this instruction page for the I-485 and it doesn't mention all the forms in the OP, but I'm assuming it's up to date.

The OP is up to date except the fee is $1070 instead of $1010.

The documents in the OP (for the I-485) ARE mentioned in the instructions, except the G-1145 of course.

- G-1145 – Form for E-notification of Application/Petition Acceptance **See Note 1** (not in instructions as it's not a requirement but smart to send)

- Payment in the amount of $1,010.00 payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security fee mentioned page 8, check USCIS site for up-to-date fees

- I-485 - Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, signed & dated #####

- Copy of birth certificate page 3

- Copy of K1 visa in passport page 3

- 2 passport photos (US passport size) - name and alien number printed lightly on back in pencil or felt pen page 3

- Copy DS-3025 – Vaccination record (completed), dated ##### **See Note 2** page 4 for medical though technically you need to read the I-693 instructions per Note 2

- G-325A - Biographic Information, including residence and employment attachments (1 copy as of July 2009) page 4

- I-864 - Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act, completed by ##### page 4

o Copy Federal income tax return (usually a 1040 or something like that), including W-2, Form 1099s & Schedule for most recent tax year (or IRS tax transcript which I prefer) see I-864 instructions

o Copy Federal income tax return (usually a 1040 or something like that), including W-2, Form 1099s & Schedule for second most recent tax year (optional)**See Note 3** see I-864 instructions

o Copy Federal income tax return (usually a 1040 or something like that), including W-2, Form 1099s & Schedule for third most recent tax year (optional)**See Note 3** see I-864 instructions

o Letter from #####’s employer (optional) see I-864 instructions

o Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months for ##### (optional)see I-864 instructions

- Copy of I-797 - Notice of Action, Approval of K1 petition, dated ##### (front & back) page 4

- Copy of Marriage certificate, dated ##### (front & back) page 4

- Copy of I-94 – Arrival/Departure record (front & back)page 4

No offence but if you missed this then you probably missed a whole lot more.

What documents did they keep? You should still have a copy of your NOA2. You should have been given back your originals and you should have had a copy of your DS-3025 given to you by your panel physician.

I only have the piece of the I-94 that was stapled to my passport. I didn't receive originals back, everything was taken once I arrived at the POE.

You would have received your originals back at the interview, not at the POE.

So I need a copy of my I-797 and my DS-3025. I assume my doctor would still have a copy of the DS-3025 on file and I could get another copy of my I-797 sent to me by the USCIS?

Some doctors do, some doctors don't. The I-797 should never have been handed over at interview. It would have been sent to the USC. It's the letter that say "Your petition is approved"

I have just been looking at the instructions for the i485.

I am pretty confidence with my initial evidence and that I have it to hand, however, the final section (#15) states "Copies of Documents Proving That You Are Eligible For The Classification". What other evidence would this be and what have other people supplied under this section?

Hi, You will need the medical exam form you did in your country for the AOS (DS-3025? not sure what form your country has) , but most people have the medical form transciption here in america with a civil surgeon,Info taken from the DS-3025 to the I-693. You will also need a copy of your I-94, it should be stapled inside your passport. That's all from the past papers i can think of. Read over the AOS link and do all it says to do and you will be fine :)

You can read more about that here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/231026-civil-surgeons-who-dont-rip-you-off/

When filing AOS you don't include evidence of a relationship, that would be at a interview, if you have an interview, some people do, some don't.

follow this and all will be fine http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Good luck :)

!!BIOMETRICS WALK-IN SUCCESSFUL!!

I am very happy to report that my attempt at a walk-in biometrics appointment was successful SO here's my review!

My ASC Centre was here:

USCIS Application Support Center

210 Walnut Street

Room 949

Des Moines, IA 50309-2110.

First, I was VERY nervous at doing a walk-in as mine was a 3 hour drive from where I was (am) living. Prior to doing the walk in I called the office (don't ask my how I got the number, part detective skills, part luck) and confirmed that while they didn't LIKE it, it was possible.

So getting there was very easy. I google mapped the location first, made sure I knew what the building looked like (it was in the Neil Smith Federal Building), and looked for parking in the area just in case we had trouble finding somewhere. Remember to bring money for parking!! We forgot to bring quarters and most of the parks had meters and we had NO coins... so we had to find an ATM ($3 non-bank atm charge :S) then find somewhere to GET change. Luckily we found a parking structure while looking for a place to get quarters directly behind the building we needed to go to and the cost wasn't too bad either ($1.50 for the first hour and $0.50 per hour thereafter).

We walked around to the front entrance and entered finding a security point to allow you into the building. They asked for my purpose being there (there were lots of offices in the building, not just the ASC) and I handed him my letter. He didn't care about that and just said "fingerprinting.. ok" and I put my handbag on the belt. Tony put his hands in his pockets and found out he still had his pocket knife on him!! He tried anyway by putting it in the little tray and the guard just picked up the container for him to pick back up the knife and said "you'll need to remove that" so he had to walk back to the car (lol. Extremely funny because we should have known better...).

I walked through security to wait on the other side. My shoes set it off though and I had to stand arms spread while he ran the wand over me. No biggie.

So when Tony got back we hopped in the elevator and I pressed 9 because 949, level 9 right? Well while waiting to go up Tony saw a posted on the wall listing "popular levels" and USCIS was level 3... huh? Weird. Okay so we pressed 3 but we were already passed three and had to go up to 9 and then back down again... the elevator was stopped a couple of times on the way up and down for other people to get on. We went to the USCIS room and just outside the door was a poster that said words to the effect of "finger printing on level 9".. dammit! I knew being on 3 made no sense!! So we went BACK to the elevator and up to level 9.

We went in the room and there was a man in a security uniform sitting at the reception desk. He said "are you her for fingerprinting?" I said yes and he started to grab a folder as I pulled out the biometrics interview letter and passport. He grabbed my letter and started to clip it to the board and looked at the date (May 21 was my scheduled date) and he looked up and said "umm, your appointment isn't until 21st May". I said "I know, I am here to do a walk-in". He asked how far we'd come and I said "3 hours". He said "I will have to speak to a supervisor as this is so early" and off he walked with my letter. As he was walking back towards the reception desk he said "Did you call earlier this week?" I said "yes" and he said "no problem. Just fill in this form and bring it to me when you're done". ("Oh thank christ" I was thinking!!)

The form asks for:

- Surname, Middle name (if any), first name

- Aliases (if any).. I put my maiden name here

- Date of birth, Country of Birth

- Country of Citizenship

- Case number(s) that you're there for (these are on your biometrics interview letter)

- Height (in feet), weight (in pounds), eye colour & hair colour (there are boxes to circle)

There may have been a few others but that's all I can remember. They didn't check the info I wrote down (like my weight.. and my height too... hehehe. I should have said i was 5'10" or something instead of my measly 5'7").

So after I handed it over to the guard at the counter he gave me my interview letter back (put a big red stamp on it first), the form I'd filled in and my passport. The lady was waiting for me (no-one else was there waiting) and she took me to her little computer/fingerprinting terminal thingy. She scanned my barcodes and asked me to double-check the info on the screen (such as name, address, date of birth etc). She then entered my bio info (hair colour, eyes, weight, height) and opened up the finger printing screen.

She put one some gloves (ooOOOoo)and asked for my hand. She put my left fingers (excluding my thumb) on the fingerprinting screen. Then she printed each finger and thumb by rolling from left side to right side (same as when I had my fingerprints taken for the police check in Australia). Then she had me take a seat so she could take my photo (as predicted, it was worse than the pic I sent in :( ). Then that was it.

I asked her which finger they use for the print on the card and she said index finger (but I can't remember left or right). She told me that I should receive my EAD soon but she couldn't say when and handed me a "review" form to review her as well as my biometrics letter with the red stamp parts filled in.

We then left and started the 3 hour drive home. All-in-all I am VERY happy to have the biometrics out of the way. Parking cost us $1.50 because we were there less than an hour (more like 40 mins from parking to walking back to car).

This is extremely helpful information! I live in Davenport IA also and am contemplating doing a walk-in the day before my appt. Im really hesitant about it.

My appt. is on Aug-24th but I have exams and clinical classes I cannot miss, and also would not have any reliable transportation. So i plan to leave here around 4:30 am on thursday morning and wait all day if I have to as a walk-in.

I've been trying to find their direct number online...would you mind assisting me with this in a private msg?? Or should I just take the 3hr drive up there and pray they don't turn me away?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Tammie

Davenport?! Lol I live 45 mins from there but work in Rock Island :)

Their direct number was located in a way that technically shouldn't have been allowed so they were a little annoyed that the person that gave me the number gave it to me. I actually deleted the number once I used it. I could try again but I doubt I'd be lucky a second time. What I would do is go early and hope security lets you in to the building, and if they don't tell them that you're seeking a walk-in and would like to ask in the office. Hopefully they will let you in.

I would take evidence of your exams and clinical classes. The problem is they might tell you that you need to reschedule AFTER those dates. I would tell them that with school you're unable to know for sure when you'll be available next. Hopefully they'll let you wait or just let you process. Honestly when I went to my appointment for ROC there was maybe 6 people total so **fingers crossed** for you!

ROC for VSC is taking about 9 months. Keep an eye on the filers groups to get an idea of where you are in the process. This is the Feb ROC group: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/349983-i-751-february-2012-filers/page__st__570 and you can see only 1 from VSC has their GC and that was an expedite due to deployment.

This post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/343787-i-751-january-2012-filers/page__view__findpost__p__5590568 in the January filers group says 1 person from VSC in the December group has been approved. You'll be waiting another 3 months at least i would think.

Thanks for your response Vanessa&Tony, that explains a lot

I was confused about my documents...do I have to file I-130 if I am K-1

Not if you were married in the 90 days. If you've been married more than 2 year you will though.

I have a FUNNY question for you .... How can I change my "Filed for" from K1 to AOS? :help:

Go to your profile page by clicking on your pseudo, and then click on "Edit my profile" on the top right. Once there, scroll down and there will be an option "immigration status" where you can change to AOS. :)
