I have noticed people commenting on doing a walk-in for the biometics.. Why is this done? Does this speed up the process at all?

I have re-sent my AOS papers back after receiving an RFE for an outdated I-485. It was signed for today. I am so worried and hope I dont receive another RFE.

I'm not entirely SURE it speeds up the process but mine was booked 3 weeks away from the date I received it, and as far as I know or have read, they stop working on your file until they receive the biometrics (kinda like an RFE) so I didn't want to waste 3 weeks when I COULD do a walk-in (not every office allows it). So if you can and your office isn't too far away, go try and do a walk-in, otherwise you wait, but it hurts nothing to try.

The current postal details for these forms (as of 3 Dec 09 ) is:

US priority mail should go to the first address, right? Or would it be considered an express delivery?

Well technically the express one is for FedEx or UPS... BUT I sent my USPS Express to the express address. I know people who have done it the other way. You can send it to whichever address you like really but some agencies, like FedEx require a street address, others don't care. If you want a signature on receipt though (which is unnecessary, just get delivery confirmation) send to the street address

sorry. Missed this one :)

Completely not true. I'm not sure where you read that. If you stay outside for more than 6 months this can affect your naturalisation clock, your ROC (which I assume you meant) has a very specific date, 90 days prior to your 2 year GC's expiry. If you stay out for more than 6 months, but less than 12 then your naturalisation clock is "paused" and the time doesn't count. If you stay out longer than 12 months (you'll need a re-entry permit for this) your clock is completely reset back to 0.

You also should know, any trips outside the US for more than 6 months can allow CBP to decide whether you've abandoned your residency. It's unlikely they will do anything the first time, but make sure you file your taxes and do everything normal so if they do question you (which I seriously doubt this time) you're prepared.
