But what if it is all a lie and they are setting me up like they did at the engagement ceremony, what if they don't allow me to go to new jersey after reaching new york, then only way out is by going or calling the nearest consulate.

My head is spinning from thinking about all this ?

It really makes no sense what they are saying. I don't think they would "set you free" once you get in NY. It seems like they will keep you hostage. Don't wait to ask for help, you don't know if you will be able!!

Ask for help at the airport!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you can trust in your parents anymore. Don't be afraid to hurt their feelings, they didn't respect yours.

Why do you think they did that to you? Somebody said India doesn't allow dual citizenship, so were you born in Spain? Do they live in Spain or India?

Do you think they want to immigrate to the US through you? Why is the reason they forced you to marry this guy? Is he from an Indian family as well?

Yes India doesn't allow dual citizenship, i was raised in Spain and got my Passport few years back, my whole family lives in US, so they wouldn't need me if they wanted to get to US, they want me to stay with him because he is from our caste and they don't want me marrying anyone else, but what they choose for me.

So you live with your parents in NJ? Are they US citizens or just Green Card holders?

I'm sure they will make you sign some of the USCIS papers soon if you are already married. As they live in the US they may know about the immigration's law.

I'm just asking to get the background and see what options are available to you. Do you consider living in Spain again?

No my parents are Spain citizens and that is how i got the Spain passport 5 years back, i'm 23 years old now, the rest of my family is in US and all are US citizens, so my other family members who are currently in India are well versed with immigration laws, i came to US in July of 2008 on a study visa and that will expire on may 2011, i am currently living at my matrnalAunt's place who is also a US citizen

I don't know about student visa, but can you transfer your credits to different university in some other state with the same VISA. Also if you do decide to leave your studies for now, so you can get away from the family and marriage, will the student visa be valid in that case?

Do think about all these criteria too before deciding what you would want to do. You certainly don't want to live illegally in US. I still say go back to Spain and start over again. A few years lost in studies is worth compared to living in misery and threat for the rest of your life.

If she transfers school in the US she will have to show them documents from her sponsors. So I think her parents wouldn't help.

If she takes a break from school, they will report her to Immigration and they will cancel her visa. She HAS to be attending school to be under student visa.

I don't see any other way then moving back to Spain. The problem is that your parents live there, so you would have to hide somewhere and never let them know you are living there....

Such a hard situation.... I'm sorry for what you are going through =/

Wow -- sounds like you're in one big mess. Sorry about the situation you find yourself in.

So you're a Spanish citizen of Indian descent? Your parents are Spanish/US citizens?

Your "husband" -- is he an Indian-American? I assume he is since you mentioned caste.

What about your boyfriend?

Are you a PIO or OCI card holder?

Just as a FYI: You can transfer schools on a F-1. Credits are simply transferred and your SEVIS record is updated.

Forget about the GC. One word from your about a forced marriage at the interview (which you will be attending alone assuming you go for a CR-1) and the whole damned thing falls apart. Contact the Spanish embassy. They're the only ones who'd be able to help you out of this mess. I honestly don't know how much help you'd get from the Indian authorities especially if your family has strong and influential connections. If you can't, wait till you get to the U.S., explain the situation to an immigration officer when they screen you on arrival--that's usually done one-on-one so you'd theoretically be alone. Actually, Spain would be the best bet for you, at this point in time. You're merely a foreign student in the U.S. -- you really don't have too many "rights" beyond your campus. I don't know what else to say. Do you have any friends in India? Have you contacted your boyfriend?

So the plan is basically have you enter the U.S. on a F-1, only this time as a married woman, and then have you file for AOS--I'm guessing this is it from the "3 months to get a GC" statement.

I wish you nothing but luck. You need to focus on being safe and getting the hell away.

Also if that B@st@rd is to be believed about the green card thing, then do i have to show that we were living together under one roof as husband and wife to get a green card ? coz then that would mean that they are never going to let m complete my studies and go to NJ.

Thanks for replying, yes he is an indian descent, and i am not a PIO or OCI card holder, but they did want me to get one before I come to India this time around, i don't know why but since i am a foreign national my application was denied at the US embassy and told to apply from india or my own country.

Yes you never answered if you got OCI or PIO or not. I was thinking if nothing else and if you do have any of these cards, take refuge in India itself. Have you contacted your boyfriend? You can email him, and if he is man enough to take the risk, go to authorities, if not in Punjab, go to Delhi. If you have to involve media in your case.

You won't have many rights in US. BP officers will only forward you to Spanish consulate or embassy.

Email Indian embassy of Spain, tell them your situation. They might be able to help. Also as I pointed out earlier, look for women right advocates or NGO in your Punjab district, they can help, doesn't matter what connection your parents have with the CM.

You not only have to prove that you are living under the same roof, but bank statements in both names, pictures, statements from friends and family, emails, phone record etc.

You have to prove to the USCIS that you married for love not green card. So as you marriage is not bonafide you will be denied and can even be deported.

There is no reason to stay married to this guy, you probably will not get the green card!!

And for me, sounds like your family is lying to you about living in NJ.
