Congrats Scott and Thuy.

I have a question. I called the DoS on 9/22/2010. I was told that the Consulate wrote in their computers that all documents were received, and was dated 9/21/2010, 1 day before I called. After my wife had her interview, on November 13,2009 we brought all the documents to the consulate. I was told before that they received them. Also, my Congerssman has sent them a few e-mails asking about the delay. Why would they say the documents were received on 9/21??

Its odd.. having given it a bit of thought I am surprised that it would say documents recieved and not say that you are missing an updated police certificate and medical..

What did they say to the congressman? same copy paste BS?

What DoS said confused me. They said its no longer with the NVC, and everything was sent to HCMC. I tried to tell the woman my wife had an interview almost a year ago, but she could only tell me what it said on her computer screen. So I really don't know whats going on, unless she didn't check the correct case number. Yes, I know we need to update the police and medical, but haven't received a letter asking for that.

The congressman sent 2 e-mails. 1st one he received has Bennett's name saying the same copy and paste. Then he sent a 2nd one because he said he wasn't happy with their response, asking them why its taken over 10 months. He said he told them loud and clear, and if I don't hear from them by Nov. 1 to let him know.

Bob, its got to be the DOS person on the phone didnt know how to read what was in front of them or didnt take the time to check any other sources of information. There had to have been some action taken on your case since her interview. Try calling again this week, see if you get better results. Good to hear your congressman used some strong language in his inquiry, I hope that produces something positive soon.

Awesome news for you and all of us in AP too. They're actually working on our cases. I can only imagine the feeling you must have.

Re: HCMxxxxxxxx, Ms Tran's

Dear Senator Lugar:

This is in follow up to our response of September 13 regarding the immigrant visa application of Ms.Tran (HCM2009xxxxxx). This case is of interest to your constituent, Mr. Thang. I regret the delay in my response to your inquiry.

A consular officer reviewed Ms. Tran’s file for a visa on September 24 and provisionally approved the issuance of her visa. Ms. Tran now needs to submit new medical examination results and a new police certificate. Notification (OF194) of this request has been sent to Ms. Tran.

Ms. Tran may submit the additional information either by mail or in person at the Consulate between 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., any working day. Ms. Tran should include the OF-194 refusal sheet that she received asking for additional information.

I hope this information is useful in responding to the concerns of your constituent.

Sincerely,

Sarah K. Bellman

Acting Consular Section Chief

When did she get the first police certificate? Its good for 1 year.. they likely lost it and if she got an extra copy as Thuy did, you can shave a month off of the wait by submitting the one she already has.....
