Hi :)

I've been looking through this site for a while now... it helps because most people have the same questions that are going through my mind!!

I had another question though...

I am the petitioner for my husband who is in India... CR-1...

I have filed for him and done everything with my maiden name,

We are currently at the DS-230 stage :) just mailed the DS-230 and the civil documents.

The question is... on the photocopy of my husband's passport, for his spouse's name (i.e. me)...

it has my "married name" (i haven't officially changed it though -- but i will once all this visa stuff is done!)...

meaning for my middle name, it is his name instead of my fathers; and his last name is mine...

I hope they understand that its normal for names to change this "drastically" -- and that they dont make a big deal about this!!

does anyone have any suggestions? or has anyone gone through something similar??

Rush,

I dont think its a big ordeal, for nvc is aware of these things when it reviews documents, application and certified information (bcert and marriage license).

My wife has maiden name on the passport ,not the married name. i was concerned and called nvc and explained to the operator that my wife name has not changed to the married one on the passport. the operator said its not a big problem and for my wife to get use from the passport before she changes name after it expires next year.

Thank you!

Your reply eased my worries... :)

I did start the process of changing my name (that way i have a few documents to prove that I will be "Mrs. Hubby's last name")... in case they decide to cause a problem about it...
