"Additional processing" at NVC

Hi,

We sent off our I-129F in July and got approved quickly, in September. After not hearing anything for a while, we emailed the NVC (Vermont) in November for confirmation that they'd received our case. They replied saying that our case was undergoing "additional processing" and to wait for further information.

Since then, we've heard nothing, despite calling them several times. Each time we call they tell us that they can't tell us anything except to call back in a few weeks. We're starting to feel anxious, even though we were approved months ago. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? It's very frustrating seeing other July applicants getting their visas already while we still have no idea what's happening!

Thanks

Anything unusual with your case?

IMBRA? or any police records? (for the petitioner)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

No, we were pretty sure we were a straightforward case. The only thing we can think of is that he's 24 and self-employed. But we thought they didn't review the financial side of things at this stage.

Correct - they normally don't.

Only other thing I can think of is that the petitioners name is similar to someone with a "record" on file. (police/FBI)

You may want to shake NVC a few more times, and then perhaps get some Senator help...

Just did some more reading and found the NVC forum where there's a sticky about people stuck in this Additional Processing black hole. Looks like we don't have much choice but to sit it out. Hopefully it's just a random check.

Many of us went through it, but you have been there way too long... contact your congressional rep or senator for assistance.. they will make an inquiry for you...

I agree! We were stuck at NVC for a random check for 30-some-odd days. We got some movement after contacting our senator for assistance.
