In defense of unwed moms and to shed a little light on the hypocrisy of some of these guys..there are lots of unwed moms in Morocco. They just cannot register their kids and alot of them are the ones in orphanages. Religion doesnt stop the guys from getting women pregnant in Morocco. Its not like the US has the patent on fornicating.. Its just shoved under the blanket with back alley abortions and overflowing orphanages..

I think its ridiculous to give much creedence to any one looking down at fornicating etc....when their are plenty of brothels there by the dozens and child maids and a girl cant get married from the US just cause she has a kid..I dont care if they look down personally...there are plenty of messes there and the poor kids cannot even inherit money or get a passport half the time because of stupid cockamamy rules and twofacedness. There are over 35000 street children in Casablanca and people wanna talk morals.. whatever

As far as marrying, definitely go the k1 route. Its alot faster, you have a baby together and I am sure you will be fine through the interview. Dont wrack your brain ok? I got married in Tunisia and looking back the k1 would have worked alot better.,..even reaffirmed

We're not talking about how just anyone feels about fornication and out of wedlock births, Kat. We're talking about judges you have to go thru to marry in Morocco, and they can be very hard on couples that have a child out of wedlock. So can CO's. And, no one ever said that there's no fornication in Morocco. There is plenty of evidence of fornicating and out of wedlock births since there have been folks here doing that, then filing to make their unions legit. When they ask for advice, we simply answer them about the reality of it, so there's nothing ridiculous about raising the subject at all.

What's ridiculous is how you try to scare people about irrelevent stuff, like husbands kidnapping their kids and how every Arab is out for a green card because a couple got over on you.

Thats awesome.. and you just had a baby.... its not a sin for your family to help you but it makes it super amazing that you pulled this off.. still.... I think a k1 would go alot faster, its an easier affadavit and you could wait out some of the time over there... Getting married can take alot longer and if you have a K1, they can move pretty quick and you can always do a courtesy visit while you are there and register as an American citizen and say hi.. and just start putting proofs together..

Best of luck and beautiful baby by the way

Thank you ^_^ I can be very patient and extremely driven when I want something.. and I want my family together.. so I'm gonna do what I have to, kiss the asses I need to, and use the help I get to make my circumstances as favorable as possible at interview time.. I can't afford to go through this again, mentally.. If I wasn't going there next month, I think I'd be breaking down now.. every time I look at her, I see him.

Thank you for your advice ^_^

I find this so ironic, but it is what it is bc there is no seperation of religion and government in Arab countries. It's so pervasive in every aspect of their daily lives and yet they seem to want to hassle the pregnant mom who wants to marry the father of the child. The judge himself is probably fornicaticing out of wedlock...this is what gets me is the irony of it all. I had my son out of wedlock 21 years ago and it was still brought up at my interview and they asked about it over and over and attempted to disgrace me. What if I had been raped and decided to keep my baby? Would that have appeased them? But as foreigners marrying in their country we have to understand and respect their beliefs and culture even as it does contradict itself in many ways.

I am glad we have such freedoms here in America where the government is not YET so involved in our private lives...I feel that changing rapidly tho and that's scarey and an entirely different discussion

It's been awhile since I researched this - but "living there" while filing a K1 - couldn't there be domicile issues as a result?

It could be, that's true.. I am fortunate to have an old school communal family household and affidavits from the homeowners.. phew..

huge overstatement. this is really individualized among countries. many arab governments are quite secular in fact.

The judge himself is probably fornicaticing out of wedlock

statements like this are completely and totally unnecessary, and do nothing to help people who want to overcome this hurdle.

yes, there was a palestinian husband, in addition to the algerian husband and moroccan sperm donor.

she's going to see that palestine flag under yr name and give you a page full of some of the most bitter vitriol you've ever seen when it comes to palestinians.

I dont have to spew. The police arrested him and when they were done, the FBI took care of the rest.

He was a criminal and ended up with 3 felonies...I dont need a flag....I have the police and thank god for them..

My daughter is amazing and lovely and yes Moroccan. Not all Moroccans are abusive losers who screw over Americans. I meet wonderful moroccans every day and I never have regretted a thing about her circumstances of how she got here

I dont need vitriol. Over the years I have found its just better to report people to ICE and to the police and let them take over. Why get mad if someone is abusive? Just call the cops and let them do their job.. They did and he went to jail...And I didnt have to be bitter..

I appreciate ICE and USCIS and every consulate officer that is astute as well as local immigration offices that do their job

Charles, can you please stop this madness? My question has been answered, and decisions have been made... Don't need politics and tongue lashings.. Thank you to all who helped ^_^

No problem...I think you will do fine with a k1

You are dead on...its a sick double standard that allows men over there to leave situations unscathed and women to have to leave their kids in orphanages

I am scaring people by posting actual cases? Morocco is not a member of the hague convention and you know it and every year there are several cases where children cannot be taken out.. most notably a high profile case where Norway helped two kids leave and the Moroccan government was infuriated

How many cases have to happen to NOT notify prospective people travelling to Morocco that the hague convention does not apply there?

Not every arab is out for a greencard. But not every marriage with a more than 20 year age difference such as your own works out for the woman either..I dont think there is anything wrong in talking about all kinds of subjects...Do you blame consulates in turning down marriages where the petitioner can be the mena persons mom? Do you blame them for really scrutinising people after Madrid and every other current event? I am the one scaring people. Get a grip green eyed girl...

Yes. I was married to a palestinian who was convicted of 3 felonies and battered and abused two other women and was later convicted or fraud....I think after the second raid at my house in black suvs with guns drawn I got a little bitter..I lost the vitriol when I got a permanent restraining order and then later went to prison.. The whole black suv thing kind of made me bitter.. Much better now..

ICE ICE BABY is not always a bad thing

And to clear things up for you while you dance on my grave, I am not bitter any more nor am I full of vitriol. Active enforcement by the FBI can help anyones feelings. I never feel bitter anymore. And if I see someone who is bitter and hurting and someone did something bad to her I give her great advice. I give her phone numbers. I help her write the letters...And I dont judge any group of people just because someone hurt me..but I go out of my way to advocate for victims.Someone who uses an american for papers needs papers in his file so when he goes to get his US citizenship, that the way he treated his american spouse is called into play , including notarised affadavits from members of her family and friends and police reports...The best way to feel better is to make sure other people cant do the same to others nor benefit from other things they have done. Spewing does nothing. Effecting change at USCIS and embassies is much more effective.

Contact USCIS. Send a certified letter both to the original embassy, NVC and USCIS and the local office. Send matching letter to every department at the local office and send an additional letter to the sheriffs department.

Outline what happened and send another copy to the Department of State

The reason you are seeing clampdowns at embassies is because several women have done this and there are field investigations ongoing in most cases and a special department that does this in Casablanca and now in Algiers.. Hence all these denials as of late.. They are being EXTREMELY careful . Thank god for that

Being bitter is worthless. Being proactive makes you feel much better.. and forgiving too..

I adore the FBI and love ICE... You dont have to be bitter when you tell the facts to someone in authority in the US govt and let them do their job....

See, this is so uncool... I didn't want my thread to turn into a Kat bashing session.. Aren't there enough threads like that? I really just asked a serious question, and I appreciate her input on telling me the risks of what could happen, though I'm not overly concerned about them because I know and trust his family and don't anticipate going out much  So sick of threads turning into the whole "Arab man" debate.. I think most of us in MENA have currently or have had Arab men in their lives and have already formed a pretty strong opinion of their own.. I've had a few real jackasses from various regions of the world, due to my taste for brown boys.. I could go on rants about Nepalis, or Indians, or *Americans*.. it wouldn't change the fact that an ####### is an #######, regardless of ethnic background, and there are far too many out there..
