I was wondering the same thing! Our paper has only had a very very brief notation if the US wins or loses. My son's girlfriend is a hostess for the event in Saskatoon (yay Saskatoon!) and is having a blast! My son won 4 tickets to the after-party on Tuesday from the radio. They're both pretty pumped. I'd love to watch the game and if I don't hear anything today about it, I'll call my local cable company.

nhl network is carrying it and u can watch it--along with many other sporting events at http://atdhe.net/

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yep, NHL network, Tuesday!

I watched the Canada/Swiss and the US/Sweden games on the NHL network yesterday. It was feed from the TSN broadcast, which was super nice. My American family thinks its weird that I want to watch Junior hockey. I think they are just intimidated and know they are going to lose! :P

Just tell them comparing juniors to pro's is like watching College Football....

Ugh I know right? I have absolutely no idea why college football is such a big thing, no idea at all. What's the draw?

Agreed! My fiance was mildly interested in it, but since he has discovered the joy of hockey it is but a memory ... :D

College Football is popular because it is players that are putting their heart into it for no pay. Same reason why Junior hockey is popular in Canada.

Nothing strange about it at all. *shrug*

That's definitely part of it. I think a big reason it's so huge, aside from the fact that football is the most popular sport in the US, is because universities in the US are waaaaaaay more "community-oriented" than they are in Canada. Almost the entire community takes pride in their local university or college, which isn't nearly the same in Canada, unfortunately. I think it's cool. I always wished I had gone to a US college for that reason. They usually support all their college teams, but football is obviously #1 in most places.

Everytime I go to Tennessee it blows my mind because the U of T Vols are arguably more popular in parts of the state than their pro team (Titans). The people around Knoxville are just diehard football fans and proud of their school....they don't care that it's not the best quality football (compare to pro) and that most of the kids playing will go on to have careers that have nothing to do with football.

I absolutely LOVE both Junior Hockey and US College Football. I watch a ton of other hockey and football too (NFL, CFL, NCAA, CIS), but to be honest, I'm totally turned off by all the spoiled brats in big-money professional sports....who think it's their God-given right to earn millions of dollars to play a game and don't appreciate the fans who pay their salaries nearly as much as they should. They're not all that bad, but some are such primadonnas, it's pathetic. I worked for an NHL team for a few years and have lots of interesting stories about the spoiled-brat syndrome.

By the way, what a crushing loss, eh?!?! Such an amazing comeback, but not an amazing outcome (I totally thought it would be like the New Years game). O'well, we'll win GOLD in both men and women's hockey in Vancouver! :)
