Hello,

Just read your post here and i will answer it based on my experienced when i travelled back home to Philippines with my passport still in my maiden name and gc is in my married name...

You don't need your AP since u have your greencard with you now. What you only need is a passport in going out the country and or entering canada and when u get back u need both your passport and your gc..passport to clarify it is you and your gc to prove that you are allowed to comeback to U.S. and your a permanent resident now..

I read some people before prior to my travel to bring your marriage certificate just incase they will ask it..i did bring mine but they never bother looking it but if you like to be safe just bring it so that you will travel worryfree but be happy on your vacation.

Hope it helps and answer your question..have a great year 2010

Everyone's pretty much answered your questions but I just wanted to add my experience.

I just flew back last week using my greencard for the first time and it was super easy. I fly using my maiden name and passport with maiden name. When I crossed I just handed them my ticket & passport in my maiden name and then my GC in my married name and they didn't ask about the marriage certificate or anything so they much have it written in their system somewhere that my name changed.

The most important thing is to have your ID match your plane ticket.

I can't believe you haven't been back! I love going back, but have realized that even though I miss my family terribly, I can only handle them in small doses now!!

Thanks everyone! I just booked my tickets in my maiden name, seemed like the best way to go.

It's been far to long since I've been home, I know! My parents were out here in early November, so I have seen them recently. Bill and I made the decision when we first started dating that we would have Christmas in Canada one year and in the US the next, so it just happened to land on a US Christmas this year, meaning I didn't get to go home. We are planning on moving in early February about an hour away so I figured it would be good to go see them now before things got too busy.

I always hand over my Canadian PR card on both sides just in case - you never know who you're gonna get!

Have fun on your trip home, Huggles. :)
