Not you? You're the one that took issue with the AK-47 claim. I said nothing about the experts opinion one way or the other - other than that it is his opinion.

Yes Charles, you're definitely trying to bait me. Tell you what - you can stop playing silly buggers with my words and have a sensible exchange of ideas. Alternatively, you can continue along this vein and I'll report it so that you can thrash it out in the "Mod" forum.

What would you like to do?

i was answering your earlier question, remember that?

I'm still waiting for the answer to the question about why the "AK47 angle" is important.

you decided to make it about the facts in the op - which involved you ignoring the statement by a ballistics expert - and had you noted that statement, it all woulda fallen into place for you.

as for the rest of your post, it's ludicrous.

I personally do not see the need for a private citizen to carry a concealed weapon at any age. It seems to me that only criminals would want to 'hide' the fact that they are carrying a firearm so they can take advantage of that unawareness in the commission of a crime.

so then you must be in favour of "open carry", in which the firearm is not concealed under the coat, rather, worn in a belt holster on top of the coat. oddly enuf, this was the standard method of carry in the early days of the USA. concealed carry was considered a criminal's device until the late 19th century, when liscensed concealed carry laws came into existence.

i think the focus should be on training. make it mandatory. forget the permits or the owner registries, but evidence of training (or experience) should be a requirement to buy.

jim crow laws, my friend.

I ignored the statement because it has no bearing on the boy's death.

You on the other hand did ridicule it and labelled it labelled it as "media hysteria". Now according to you I am apparently ridiculing it. That is ludicrous, albeit quite deliberate.

From the article:

The shooter could have been as much as two to three miles away, Fite told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. But most likely, the shooter was about a half mile away and the gun was tilted at about 30 or 40 degrees, not straight up, he said.

“This bullet that hit this kid was not shot straight up because it would have come down near the shooter,” Fite said.

i said you ignored it.....ignoring does not equal ridicule. at least, not in my world.

Quite right. Now if I'm choosing to focus on the death of the boy by a Yahoo firing into the air on new year (as I've maintained), why should I, or anyone else, care about the gun that was used?

You've already suggested that the AK-47 angle amounts to "media hysteria". If that is indeed your opinion - why is it important to you that I place any kind of emphasis on what the expert said?

Charles, don't you get the feeling your on a merry-go-round?

Oh I do Marc. But I'm wondering if a day will come when you aren't so personally biased :)

I figured you were used to the spinning, seeing you love to run in circles. Personally biased? Do you have scientific facts for that statement? Or is the lil man on your shoulder talking to you again?

There is a Decatur, GA that is very close to Atlanta (I believe its in Fulton County but I could be wrong).

Is there a DeKalb nearby? Very familiar with Decatur and DeKalb, IL, but the article doesn't mention what state this occurred in.
