We are married at the Church, the priest sent the documents to county himself and we applied request form to county office with the check by mail. Ours is California service center. Once we got the certificate, I can apply the I-485, I-765, right?

Any helps welcome!

Thanks a lot.

Hi! Yes, you can apply once you have your marriage certificate as well as all the other required documentation for the I-485 and I-765 :) Be sure to check the guides - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

I guess I belong in here too....I filed on the 8th of January via fed Ex, lost the reciept so I guess I am just gonna have to wait until they tell me or cash the cheque...Bahh!

Welcome Nick and Kayte! ^___^

Let's all hope for smooth and problem-free approvals!

MANY THANKS!

You're welcome! ^_^

Has anyone here attached G-1145 and received an e-mail from the USCIS?

I really mean an e-mail, not a text message.

Yes, I attached the G-1145 and I got an email (and an SMS too) on Friday with case numbers. Those numbers JUST showed up after lunch in their system for checking status though today.

Thanks, DaveTX.

That's very promising.

I hope our AOS journey gets faster and better each day.

Ours was received on Friday per USPS mail tracking, but we have received no text or email message so far. Perhaps with the holiday yesterday they are behind on opening packages.

That makes this week very exciting. I can hardly wait to hear something pleasant from the USCIS.

I went to local SSA office to apply SSN card but they gave me an official letter written that the SSN card will be mailed after they verified with the USCIS of my immigration status of I can work or not. It will take 2~4 weeks. Are there any suggestion for that? In the mean time, I am waiting for my marriage certificate to adjust status.

Thanks.

My SSN was issued on December 22 last year.

I arrived in the U.S. on October 27, 2009. My ex-fiance (now husband) accompanied me to a nearby SSA office on November 10 but they gave me the letter below:

"This is to acknowledge that you applied for a Social Security number on November 10, 2009.

Before we can issue you a Social Security card, we must verify the document(s) you gave us to show your citizenship or alien status with the Federal, State, or local office in the United States that issued the document(s). This may take up to four weeks.

If that office verifies the authenticity of your documents(s) we will mail you a Social Security number card. If that office does not verify your document(s), you are not eligible for a Social Security number card and we will inform you of this in writing."

On December 8, exactly four weeks after my first SSA visit, I returned to the same office because no mail ever showed up. The SSA just told me that the USCIS didn't respond to their initial inquiry so what they'd do is snail mail the USCIS.

Eventually, my SS card appeared on December 22.

Unique, just stay patient.
