"insufficient" is so subjective :( I really think it's up to the one holding your file. My friend submitted W2's and everything went on smoothly - -no RFE's.

Just my luck. My packet ended up in the hands of some strict adjudicator.

No, it's not subjective. They specifically ask for your TAX RETURNS or TAX TRANSCRIPTS. Besides, showing W2's doesn't prove you ever filed tax return, it just proves you made that money. But of course, your can always count on an adjudicator being compassionate  . Good luck!

My friend was just considerably lucky. She filed the concurrent i-130 with the MINIMUM required evidence of bonafide marriage under the premise that, "the more you give, the more they will question." That went on smoothly too!

I finally got the hard copy of the RFE. Just as I had suspected, it's for the 2008 Federal 1094. I'm worried. My spouse isn't too diligent about keeping files :|

If he cannot find 1040, you can request tax transcript from IRS. They will mail it to you or even fax while you wait. That's all you will need, no 1040 or any of its attachments are required when you submit the transcript.

So...not that I need one...yet (knocking on wood)....but how does one go about getting an congressional inquiry fired up? Not sure how that works. But would be good information to have on hand. Detail steps would be nice.

Yes you can get the tax transcript from IRS. But I do NOT recommend that you request it via fax or mail. I highly recommend that you go to the IRS's local office and request the transcript, and you will get it on the same day via walk-in visit. Go to IRS's website and you can search the local office of IRS. When I got my husband's tax transcript, I requested via fax, and didn't get it in two weeks, and being impatient, I went to the local office, and got it right away. Long after I had sent my aos package to USCIS, I received the tax transcript via mail. I think it took almost 5 weeks.

Good luck with your appointment!

Regarding the tax returns, that sounds like a RFE. Strange how you never got a notification. I wonder whether other people who hired lawyers got RFE notifications.

I did not hire an actual lawyer, however I did pay Cynthia at immigrationdocs.com to help me, something I def wish I never would have done. Once she had her money and did the little that she was required to do, and now I never hearfrom her, when I try to call her it takes several days for her to answer me back. She never told me anything about getting a I-693 medical exam, basically I warn any body that would even think of hiring somebody. IF, you are going to hire somebody, first of all, do your research, are ALL of their customers happy with them? How many cases have they filed that are similar to yours? My cousin recently married his love from saskatchwan and with the help of me having this one experience and the help of VISA JOURNEY, he plans to file it without hiring anyone. I now believe lawyers and anyone who says they will help you are a waste of money and time. It does not cost them $2000 to fill out your paperwork which they probably spend 2 to 5 hours on. Sorry if this is a long vent, just my experience with paying anyone for this.

Oh dear, we too hired Cynthia from immigrationdocs.com for the K-1 part of the process. I told her I did not need her anymore after we got an RFE for the I-129F at that time. Waste of money, they ripped us off as well. I totally agree with you, do not hire anyone for AOS or K-1 or any of these immigration procedures if your case is straightforward. And if it isn't, I don't know about other companies, but DO NOT hire immigrationdocs.com.
