Uh oh, now I'm getting worried about the missing hyphens on my NOA's  Every document I have that is not USCIS related has the hyphens. I tried to call NCSC but it seems they are not working today? The automated message says that they work 8AM-8PM Mon-Fri, but it's not transferring..

Hi wonderful people! Just got home from biometrics appointment. For the first time here in US I woke up at 5 a.m. and took a shower with my left hand raise so I won't get my tst wet. lol That's what the nurse told me as possible not to have it wet. lol leave the house at 6:30 and got there at 7:25 . Thought the office is open by then since my appointment is at 8 and there are lots of cars outside the office already. We went to the entrance but luckily still closed. When i look back all this people are inside their car waiting. :=> lol Hubby and I just laughed going back to our car. Then this mexican family came and start waiting outside the entrance then one by one everybody copied them. So we joined them and waited for 20 minutes in the cold. Then the guard came outside telling everybody no cp, cameras, purses and even water. He starts checking id and ASC appointments. When it comes to me he asked for the marriage certificate coz in my ASC I used my husband last name. I point out to him my husbands name as annotation in my passports k1 visa and my hubby offered his license too. But the guard replied that he's not the only "John Doe" in the world. So I start worrying coz I don't have my MC and hubby ask if they accept it through fax. The guard said Yes, so we asked him if they have fax machine and he said No!

No way! but he didn't tell us right away that there's an INS officer to check my name online. That's a relief to us after hearing it. Then it goes smoothly inside and been there for only 15 mins. But I still need to asked somebody if I'm ready to exit coz the nice lady that do my fingerprints didn't tell me that I can leave! lol

P.S my tst is very itchy! and its a little red. I wish I didn't eat soo much chicken yesterday! It may trigger to itch since the wound from the needle is healing. I hope so that's the reason why its red and itchy. Its going to be unacceptable if the result of this will be positive tomorrow. But I believe its not by Gods grace.

I think I read something on another thread about hyphens in names showing up on other notices but not on the NOAs?

The last time I called the NCSC, I had a problem too - I couldn't get through an actual agent either :( I try not to call the Military Helpline unless I actually have a military-related question but it seems to be getting harder to get through the NCSC. Maybe the system is just down at the moment?

Yay! Congratulations on getting the biometrics done!

Did you fill out your AOS forms with your father's last name as your new middle name? or just followed the American naming convention - just changed the last name to your husband's name?

Don't worry too much about the TST! Mine was a bit itchy too but the induration was still under 5mm (I think it was 3mm = negative).

Actually they never got my hyphenated first name right to begin with. The K1 visa had my first name without the hyphen. My SS card has the hyphen, though, as does the car registration and other documents. So now it looks like I have two middle names. Perhaps it's a non-issue, otherwise they wouldn't have accepted my application. Sigh...this is mind-boggling.

Gaaah... I really wish it was easier to talk to someone from the USCIS and find out what to do. It's really frustrating. :(

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

here goes...

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;hl=michigan

and here's a link that says what to do to file for a legal change of name in Michigan

http://courts.michigan.gov/scao/selfhelp/family/nc_help.htm

I'm going to look into the forms required for a name change petition. I think it's $150 in Michigan but you also have to be a resident of the particular county you file in for at least a year. If it does become an issue, I'll still have to wait to file it until July this year. :(

I read about this too and honestly I find it quiet confusing. I mean, when do they start counting us as a resident? Is it as soon as we arrived on a K1 visa (with I-94 as reference) or is it after we get our green card? If the case is the latter, then how can we possibly file for a legal change of name prior to applying for AOS? This would just mean additional fees and more paper works :(

Oh, I didn't think of that! I figured we could count from the day we arrived on the K-1? They'll see the address on the annotation on the visa and that might be proof enough that you lived in that county. In that case, we really can't file a name change before AOS. The only way to do it would probably be to file the petition for name change after AOS, then file ROC with the approved name change?

I wonder how long the court would take to process the name change petition?

You're welcome!!! It'll be fine, don't worry! Even if it is positive, they'll just require an x-ray and for sure, you'll be negative. It's just that most Filipinos get the BCG vaccine so we tend to get more false positives in the TST.

I've been trying to find more about the name change issue and I think it's only Michigan that's really strict about it - different states have different laws :(

Thanks! I suppose if it was an issue, it would have been one at the border when my Canadian passport had my first name hyphenate and my visa as non-hyphenated. I probably shouldn't have asked for the hyphen when I went to the SSA office. Originally, they changed my married name without the hyphen, and I literally asked the lady to put in the hyphen! I guess it's customary to just have the maiden name as the middle name. Oh well!

Hi! Yes, but my SSN Card has the valid for work only with DHS authorization note on it.

We applied for the SSN right before we got married so it's still in my maiden name

Yes, you can have your SSN even without the working permit yet. Why would you need an EAD for the bank account? Is it a requirement in your bank? I did not file for I-765 and our bank only required for my state ID and SSN card when we opened a joint account.
