Has anyone of you here already have an idea what job you will get or want to take once you can legally work?

I've actually already started applying for jobs. I plan on telling them I'm on contract with my internship until March and then buy some extra time after that if my EAD hasn't arrived yet. It's worked out so far because a lot of the jobs I am applying for (local government) require you to take a test (along with 400 other people) and then they put you on a ranking list. I took a test last month, ranked 4th out of 400 and still haven't heard anything. I'd be pretty frustrated if I had waited until I had the EAD in my hands before I even STARTED the testing process. I took another test 2 weeks ago, emailed the HR woman today and she said keep waiting, it may take a while. I also have another test to do next Wednesday. I would love it if everything would come together at the same time - a job offer AND the ability to take it!

Here I am again ^^ just went to local health dept for my 2nd dose MMR and only paid $14.75. Its a good thing I have it done today same day with my TST. Because if it was on different date they won't give me the MMR vaccines unless its been a week from having the TST. How crazy is that? And I'm glad no need for HPV anymore coz the CS office charges $300 and the local health dept $125. That's a lot ! How much more crazier is that? blah blah blah I talk soo much. I'm just happy to have all the vaccines done and soon the completed I 693. Thank You God!

Then tomorrow the biometrics appointment at 8 a.m. which means I'm going to wake up early! Just so you know I'm still asleep and drooling during that time! Loud alarm clock is needed.

I was so excited when I saw an official looking envelope in the mail today sure that it was our Biometrics. nope! A summons for jury duty! So annoying! And I don't even know what to do because I don't know when our biometrics appt will be. I don't know why the letter is delayed. I checked our local office, and people seem to be getting through quickly. THere are other K1 people who filed just before us and already have their appointments set for next week. It makes me nervous that the letter got lost. I guess I will give it a couple of days before I reply to the jury summons. I always get "lucky" and get called in..never one of those your number has been dismissed things. It has been a rough day. I went to the DMV to change my name on my license and the woman would not accept my marriage certificate because she said it was a photocopy. I had another one at home and went to get it, but it was the same exact thing. They both have an embossed seal on them, so how can it be a copy? Had to go to another DMV in another city, got bad directions and spent an extra hour searching for it, finally got there right before they closed, but they let us in thank goodness. They were much nicer and got everything changed. Then on the way home discovered that the headlight on my car is out. There had BETTER be some good news tomorrow. I can't take much more of this. Thanks for listening!

Menina, did you get the biometric letter yet? It looks like we're at about the same timeline and touched on Jan. 28, but are still waiting. Hopefully it will come soon!

Nothing. It is so depressing to check the mail everyday. We had a touch on our AP yesterday but no movement on the progress status. I'm not sure how well I like this online status thing. I tend to be too obsessive about it even though I only allow myself to check twice a day. When I see a touch I get excited but then nothing ever happens. I just hope the letter wasn't lost somewhere, but it does seem that people getting their letters notice a print date of one thing and a mail date of several days later. Who knows? Good luck to you...hope you have some good news tomorrow.

Please don't think the average time to get a biometric letter is just 2 weeks and get disappointed when it doesn't arrive by the 14th day. I know that based on these forums, you'd tend to think from all the postings that if your letter doesn't come in 2-3 weeks you are SOL. As you can see from my timeline, it took us almost a month (28 days) to get ours... and I felt so silly for worrying when I saw that our actual letter was dated so much earlier than when it arrived. I honestly think that the letters go out in batches... The day I received my letter, I saw a bunch of other postings the same exact day.

I know that I tend to overanalyze things based on what I see here on the forums.. and in reality, the people on the forums (us included) are probably the type A filers... We are just a small percentage of filers and we need to keep that in mind. I'm trying not to get overanxious myself right now because I see people who filed 20 days before me get their interview letter and then I start thinking that in 20 more days I should get mine. It's not fair to do that to myself.. i have to be patient and let the forms, notices, and interviews happen when the USCIS says so. :innocent:

Has anyone of you here already have an idea what job you will get or want to take once you can legally work? Or is there someone who is thinking of staying at home for a while without a job? Or somebody planning to start their own business online or in any other way?

My wife received a temporary EAD at JFK so she started working as a temp job, instead of getting bored at home and having some US experience on her resume - so hopefully she receives her EAD before her temporary EAD expires....
