We just got our biometric appt on 2/19. Funny thing is that it's for a USCIS office I have never heard of which is only a couple miles from our house in Austin. Are walk-ins typically ok for biometrics? Does it make things go any faster if we do it earlier?

Yay! Congratulations!

It depends on the particular office - some are strict and don't accept walk-ins while others do but priority is always given to those whose actual appointment dates are on that day. I'm not sure if it really speeds up the process but it wouldn't hurt. The only reason we didn't do a walk-in is because my husband can't really take time off work (he's in the military) and the ASC assigned to us is at least 2 hours away. :(

All the best for you, victorious. Have you found a CS that offers a complete medical package for a reasonable amount?

Yes its the same office we had my vaccines transcribe. The nearest and cheapest one. When my husband called the lady said they charge $ 175. So its not so bad.

Tell you all later about how it goes. ^^

So there have been questions surrounding doing a TB skin test...has anyone actually gotten an RFE for that or is that not really an issue?

Hey all! We did the biometrics early this morning... our appointment was at 10:00am, got there at 9:15am and left there at 10:00am. It was busier than normal because they were closed yesterday, so many of the appointments from yesterday came today.

Just be aware of closures if you attempt to walk-in. I didn't ask, but I think the Norfolk ASC was so busy this morning that they would turn away walk-ins due to yesterday's appointments coming in. :-)

And your biometric letters will come... i had to wait almost the full month for mine to come.. so be patient! :-) easier said than done I know!

The CS we went to insisted that I have the TB skin test done.

I do remember reading a thread before were the couple scheduled an INFOPASS appointment because they received an RFE for the I-693 and the USCIS officer they talked to said that it was because of the TB skin test - they didn't need a full medical but they needed to have the TB test done even if they had a chest x-ray from overseas.

True, but that's just one couple, right? Were there others?

I hope they won't mind that. I didn't undergo TST. Who else took the TST here? :unsure:

I think that's the only case I've heard of regarding the TB skin test. ^__^;;

I'll look around the forums and see if there's more.

Snow!!! We are getting tons of white stuff in Virginia!

About the TB test... at least for the VWP (or i should say non-K1 route..hehe), the choice isn't TB skin test or Xray... it is skin test or that interferon-gamma release assays [iGRAs] thingie. You get an Xray if your skin is raised more than 5mm I believe. The xray can't be taken as a short-cut to clearing the TB "test"... I say this hoping not to offend anyone or step on any toes. Hope it helps clarify though...
