Are we supposed to submit our USC spouse's birth certificate also? I only submitted mine

I forgot about the requirements but perhaps it's for proof of U.S. citizenship. My husband and I sent a copy of his passport.

You're supposed to prove that your husband is a USC for the I-864.

I was thinking this could be the case so I checked the requirements for I-864. Part 4 (Information on the Sponsor) No. 19 (Citizenship/Residency) says that "If you checked box (b), ©, (d), (e) or (F) in line 1 on Page 1, you must include proof of your citizen, national, or permanent resident status"...we checked (a) so I guess we're good without my husband's birth certificate (hopefully).

Don't worry! We didn't send my husband's BC either because it's not required - he's already established/submitted proof of his citizenship during the K-1 process.

Check under the instructions for the I-864.

19. Citizenship/Residency:

Proof of U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident status is required for joint and substitute sponsors and for relatives of employment-based immigrants who file this form. Petitioning relatives who have already filed proof of their citizenship or immigration status with Forms I-130, Form I-129F, I-600 and I-600A do not need to submit proof of their status with this form.

Exactly my thought also...Thanks Fatima...By the way, I know you're having your bio soon, are you doing it in Detroit? Can you do me a favor and find out if they accept walk-in? We might be in the Detroit area next week and we're thinking if we can do a walk in bio, that is, if we receive the appointment letter before then. Thanks again.

Hi! My appointment is scheduled at the one in Kentwood, MI - it's the nearest ASC (about 2 hours away). Are you closer to the Detroit office? You can check at the USCIS website at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=ASC - enter your zip code and see which one would be closest.

I'll still ask if the Kentwood ASC accepts walk-ins when I go for my appt. and let you know! ^_^

It's now February 1. :wow:

It has been exactly two months since my husband and I exchanged vows.

Time is flying. I hope AOS for us all catches up, too.

Time does fly! @_@

It's been 5 months since our wedding. It feels so much longer! ^___^ *happy*

Hopefully the approvals will start 'flying' in the mail soon too ;)
