we called yesterday - they put in a inquiry on it as NOTHING has been done since March - it has not even been updated or anything. Our biometric update was the last notes on our file.

so looks like really has been just lying on someone's desk - but will take 45 days for the inquiry on why

I just wanted to let you all know that we're still here... I just haven't been able to post because I've been so busy My husband is leaving for school/training (Army ALC - Advanced Leaders Course) very soon and we had to make a lot of preparations.

Are the USCIS being serious? I was just told to wait 180 days from when the case was TRANSFERRED?! What?! I am meant to be signing up for school soon and I cant get a driving permit without my green card ... The congressman is being no help at all.

Things are going great I meant to post months ago about another issue we ran into when we went to change the name on my Social Security card to my married name. We had to go back to the USCIS office in Detroit to get it straightened out. We scheduled an INFOPASS and we were referred to the manager of their Records division who told us that for K-1s, they don't "usually" change the name on their database to the married name until after Lifting of Conditions. We thought that really didn't make sense because you're only supposed to have ONE legal name and since my green card was already in my married name, I couldn't get a driving permit because the name on my SSN card didn't match. The lady finally made a call to a senior officer and he said it was fine. They changed it on the database then after a week, the Social Security office was finally able to make the change and issue my new card.

After all that, I was able to get my Temporary Instruction Permit so my husband could teach me how to drive.

Hopefully that was the last time we have to deal with USCIS until Lifting of Conditions on January 2012!

Just to fill you guys in...I spoke to the USCIS office today because my case was transferred to CSC 3 months ago and they basically told me now the wait is 6 months, not 3.

Along with this they also gave me this piece of info. When your case is transferred to CSC this does not mean they are looking at anything about your file in California. In fact they transfer your file BACK to your local office and get approved from there. So it's actually your local office that decides whether you get an interview or not.

People using the West Palm Beach office: they informed me that they are only now processing CSC transfers from Dec. of 2009. So it looks like I have to call back in a month, month and a half and hope they are looking at the end of Jan. 2010 files at that time.

So why bother telling us that a transfer to CSC almost always means no interview when in reality they just transfer your case back to your local office anyway. What's the point of transferring it to begin with?

....I was told my case is at CSC now after spending a hour on the phone, it has 20 days left till its outta status...Got a infopass appt on the 8th so hopefully that gets it out, at West Palm Beach no less. I need my GC for college which starts in August and for my Driving permit . *sigh*. They really do like messing us about.

nickandkatye, let me know what they say at the infopass. mine is already out of status if you count out of status being i started AOS 6 months ago. and yet i still get ####### info from every person i call at USCIS. hopefully we'll get lucky! where are you living by the way? in west palm? i am in boynton beach

We are actually in Jensen beach. But its the closest office... I need to get my green card or a form of legal documentation saying I am a "Eligible Non Citizen" for the FAFSA for college in Florida. I have until the 8th to magically whip up something... Since my husband and I are both going back in to the Navy after my pre med degree we may even contact our recruiter to see if we can get on the USCIS about it. Because this is getting stupid.

I got a call back from the Senators office saying its now "6 months from the 3rd of March..." They didn't care that I want to go to school or need it for a driving permit. So that kinda hurt... . any idea what documentation I can give to my school to say its going to be arriving in the next two months and that I am eligible?

Hey there...i have no clue what you can use for school but i'll ask around to some other people who went thru the visa process in my neighborhood for some ideas

you might try a state id - we went to get a fishing license and since he did not have a driver license yet they consider him still living in Romania and wanted like 80 dollars for salt water permit

so we realized he needed one - took about 10 mins - just take your ead card with you - this is all he needed - cost 16 usd

I have been told I cant get a state ID without a greencard.... Due to my main ID (Passport) and my SS being in different names. Even with my marriage cert they are telling me No and to wait for my green card then peruse it. ..

did you not get a temp ead card ? this is what he used - his temp one - what state are you in ?

You should be able to get your SS card with your marriage license and change your passport - then get a state id - wo the real green card - that is nuts they told you you could not
