Woohoo! Got the EAD in the mail today! Went straight down to the social security office and my wife's social security card should now be here in a couple weeks! Then she can finally get a state ID instead of having to use her passport everywhere. Still waiting for an interview date - hoping that it comes soon.

Congrats to everyone for the awesome progress you've made! I can't believe it's already the last half of March.

Well we got a second email saying that card production was ordered for EAD. Seems to be the norm getting multiple emails. Hopefully it was already sent and not only being produced today as opposed to 3 days ago. Also nothing on AP except a touch on the same day as our EAD email 3/15. Hoping to see both in the mail soon. Maybe they meant to say AP was approved last time and EAD was just approved today. Guess we'll see. Also wondering since my husband's social security card says "with work authorization only" do we need to get that changed once we have EAD or do we need to wait for the actual green card? Thanks!

It definitely seems to be the usual to get multiple e-mails about the EAD (we got 2 card production followed by 1 approval) - strange. Considering mail to here from Missouri takes about 3 days usually, I would guess the 1st e-mail was for ordering it and the 2nd e-mail was for mailing it. Don't know what the approval e-mail meant since it was obviously already in the mail. Of course, these are all just guesses.

I'm not sure about the social security card - my wife has never had one before, so this was her first application. She came over as a visitor, but I ended up in this forum before I figured out that it was a different situation (as opposed to having a family-based visa) since she never had any kind of visa (it's a long story). But, yeah, she wasn't eligible for an SSN until the EAD was in hand.

Wait until you get the green card for the new SSN card. :) The EAD will be there in a few days! If you went to the SS office with the EAD, they would just turn you around because Kyle presented his EAD at the SS Office and got a card that says "with work authorization only."

Well, here's to hoping! In my case, the 1st card production email was when they actually ORDERED card production and was the date of issue on my EAD card. The 2nd card production email seems like the day the card was produced/printed (it was the date on the letter/mailer that came with the card). The approval email was when they actually mailed the card out (based on the postmark on the envelope). ;)

So I called USCIS and was transferred to an IO who was able to see my case, and she says that since I came in on a K1, I will have an interview, but it hasn't been scheduled yet. Whaat? I asked her if it was at CSC and she said yes...so what's up with that?

Tina& Roland,

Our timeline is similar, My 485/130/765 reciept dates were 1/20/2010

Biometrics 2/11/2010

my case was transferred to CSC on 2/4.

EAD approved 3/18/2010

I just got a notice stating that the case was transfered to the National Service Center....I guess that means an interview.
