Marriage License Vs. Marriage Certificate

Hi everybody.

confused again, I know we need marriage license to get married.

But after marriage is done, do they issue us marriage certificate or

Marriage License is same as marriage certificate??

They are two different documents.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

A marriage license is what you need to be able to marry....

A marriage certificate is issued after the wedding as proof that you are married...

Like Jen said, they are different. You will need your marriage certificate when you apply for AOS.

This is correct about the marriage license and certificate. The license simply documents that both of you are legal to marry and the certificate is what proves that you got married. I am not sure where you are getting married but some states can take months to get you your copy of the marriage certificate. We got married in Vegas and it took a little over two weeks and my friend got married in Hawaii and it is going to take up to 4 months!!! I would look into this ahead of time to prepare yourself for your AOS! Good luck!!

Good point, as you 'should' file for your AOS BEFORE your K1 expires... as you know, you have 90 days upon US entry.... Don't wait until Day 89 to marry if you can help it... but most have had no problem filing for the AOS if the K1 expires within a reasonable amount of time...
