Don't concern yourself with those questions, or you might lose it! Seriously!

There's no "system" as how things are done. Best is to hope for the best, prepare to the worst, and get drunk in the process :P

True, very true. I'm a really worrisome person as is, so of course when it comes to my own marriage I'm already a nervous wreck, but I just have to hang in there and find consolation in booze, too, of course! I used to live in England for two years, I always tell my American friends I was "classically trained" when it comes to the art of alcohol.. my training might come in handy, hahaha. (not an alchie, I promise. Really!)

Thanks again though, while reading other stories and timelines of Oct/Nov/Dec VSCers both uplifts and depresses me, it's good to have support and know we're all in the same boat and will all hopefully get there eventually. :)

Before Journey:

Met online in 2002 as friends. Fell in love in 2005. Got engaged in 2010.

K-1 Journey, January 2010-July 2010:

NOA1: January 29. RFE: April 21. NOA2: June 4. Interview: July 15. Visa in hand: July 20. POE: July 22.

July 24, 2010: Married in front of 150 of our loved ones on a beautiful, sunny day. Living happily ever after and oh so thankful that 5 years of a long distance relationship and 7 months of a visa process is condensed into one line.

Wedding pictures! Because I'm shameless. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/ae47/AmeriDaneWedding/

Adjustment of Status Journey, January 2011-March 2011:

January 25: NOA1 for AOS and EAD. Feb 5: Bio appointment received. Feb 7: RFE. Feb 11: Sent RFE response. Feb 23: AOS transfered to CSC. Feb 25: Biometrics. March 11: EAD approved! March 19: Received EAD. March 21: AOS approved! March 25: GC in hand!

And we'll live happily ever after.. for the next 2 years, anyway.

where can i find that timeline???

Just dropping in to say I'm another VSC filer. They gave me a bit of a worry, taking their sweet time to cash the check and let me have the NOA1 in hand, but the receipt date was marked a day after it arrived, so that's good. I'm just wondering why it seems like some people get an email notification of it first and why others don't. I put my email on the form where it asks and everything. I guess some employees are lazier than others? Oh well.

One more question: when it says on the timeline "your I129f may be adjudicated between May 9, 2010 and May 14, 2010*," does that mean I'll get the NOA2 then or it will be sent to the foreign embassy or.. what? Thanks for the help, and I hope we all get our NOA2s asap RFE free.

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=81701 right there is yours, it's underneath your account on the forums and you can find it in a few other places, but you might as well bookmark that for convenience's sake.

My Packet is going in the mail on Thursday Janaury 7th!!!!

Who else is Filing at VSC in January?

WE ARE!

Here's our timeline so far:

08/24/2008 - Met teaching abroad in Beijing (Kang from Sydney, myself from Boston)

11/2008 - Begin living together in Beijing

2/2009 - Visit Kang's family in Sydney

7/2009 - Visit my family in Boston

2/2010 - ALL the families get together for the first time in Sydney!

2/24/2010 - OFFICIALLY engaged! (L)

1/28/10 - I-129F sent to Vermont Service Center

1/29/10 - delivered to VSC

2/8/10 - NOA1 (not sure exactly when hardcopy was received - Mom is the go-between with her address in States because getting mail in China is never an easy task!)

?? - NOA2

?? - Packet 3

?? - Packet 4

?? - Medical

?? - Interview

?? - Visa Issued

?? - POE

?? - Marriage Date

Does anyone have any experience with filing for K-1 visa while both partners are living outside of the U.S.? If so, does it make any difference?

Anyone here going through Beijing's consulate??

I would suggest paying little attention to the estimated processing time.

For the past 3 months it's been moving up and down (but mostly up).

Just take 5 months from your NOA-1 and set expectation for around that date and then be very pleasantly surprised when NOA-2 arrives earlier

It's the first US Airport that your fiance will arrive at. Like mine will come through LAX, so her POE will be LAX. This is where they will collect documents and stamp passports and where they officially "enter" the US...hence..POE. Shoot...just realized doens't have to be an airport...could be a border point, like Canadian or Mexican Border.

Oh well then...congratulations!

So, POE will be the first US city that YOU come into when you finally arrive and need to leave the airport.

Do you know what city you'll be coming to when you arrive? VJ also has some Port of Entry reviews here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php

You can see if people have good or bad experiences at that port.

Good luck!

~Johnny~
