Here, a gift for you:

:P

Thanks :star:

I'm old enough to remember when Madonna was a "new" artist, and "Like a Virgin" was shocking and controversial in 1984.

For my money, David Bowie covered oversexed androngyny back in his Ziggy Stardust days. Lou Reed took a good whack at the genre in Transformer, too.

I remember that too... and singing "Papa don't preach" and having my parents try to get me to sing other things lol. I was six.

There is nothing new under the sun, eh?

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

My wife keeps wanting to tune into the local pop station that plays something called "Lady Gaga", whatever that is.

I am the dominant one in our relationship however and keep the radio presets set to WDRV (70s/80s classic rock) and WBEZ (local NPR affiliate). Screw Lady Gaga.

OMG...

I'd rather listen to hairbands from the 80's than listen to Lady Gaga. :dead: I can't deal with that nonsense.

My husband and I coincide on some things - we both like U2, UB40, The Police, and a bunch of other artists. We also both like reggae and salsa.

He can't deal with my dance music though he says it gives him a headache. I like to dance to Beyonce and stuff like that while cleaning my house. At 7 1/2 months pregnant it's getting a little difficult :hehe:

yes, I'm curious as well to know how old the Danno is....

How old are you?

Older than the hills.

jabberwacky: How old are the hills?

user: Younger than me.

jabberwacky: How old are you?

user: Older than the hills.

jabberwacky: And how old am I ?

user: I don't know. How old are you?

jabberwacky: Older than you.

user: So, you must be older than the hills too?

jabberwacky: You are not too smart even for a robot . . .

user: You're a quirky little machine, aren't you?

jabberwacky: Now you're just repeating me.. Very boring.

user: Ah, but I'm not repeating you at all. You're repeating me, but you're ahead in the timeline. It's easy to tell the difference.

jabberwacky: Please point out to me where I repeated you the FIRST time.

user: You just did!

jabberwacky: Oh, alright, you're just too smart for me, Jabberwacky.

user: Clearly. So, what's the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything?

jabberwacky: The answer is 'NO'!

You should give Lady Gaga a shot if you like dancing around the house. I think her name gives the wrong impression. She's actually quite talented. :)

Oh, I know this Lady Gaga well, far too well....

I have heard all her songs A GAZILLION TIMES. This is most likely why I don't like her. If I listen to any more of her I might just snap and go postal. She's on every radio station ALL DAY LONG!!! You just can't escape the Gaga.

Glad you express your opinion. But would you want your child to model Lady Gaga's values and behavior?

Yes, I hope my child becomes a cross-dressing, flamboyant, bisexual entertainer. Would only serve me right for appreciating the music of someone who lives an alternative lifestyle!

She's not on my radio station. Right now I have that Islamic radical Cat Stevens on my radio.

OK  true. I meant pop music stations. Even the light rock station plays her stuff  right after Phil Collins and before Bette Midler . The classic rock station doesn't either but it comes in fuzzy.

It's almost as bad as when Jennifer Lopez got really popular and my sister got her CD for her birthday and all I heard was "Jenny from the block" ALL DAY LONG. At home, in the car, on the TV, you couldn't get rid of the J LO. Now it's Gaga.
