Hi everybody,

my fiance is gathering everything we need for the affidavit of support. Now our question is whether the w-2's are enough to show at the US embassy in Germany or do we need tax returns. Or is that actually the same.

Do you know whether the documents like bank statements, letter of employer, w-2 have to be notarized?

Sorry, but I am a little bit confused.

Notarization is not required.

You need tax returns WITH w-2s (or 1099s) OR Tax transcripts from the IRS. Tax transcripts are free and can be faxed to him. If you have transcripts you do not need the tax returns.

Call IRS at 800- 829- 1040 24/7. Takes about a week or if you call during business hours you can have them faxed to you while you are talking to them. All free.

Hi,

no notarization needed as said before.

We added a letter from my fiances Employer saying how much he makes and since when etc..no tax returns but we had a co sponsor and they gave us back his tax papers telling us they dont need them.

Better add them anyways to be save.
