do we need a notarized letter of intent from the UK citizen for our K1 visa?

we have our interview on Tuesday, it has been 11 months since we received the NOA2 and only have a notarized letter of intent from the USC. we gathered that since the UK citizen was appearing in person at the embassy for the interview it would be rather strange to have the letter notarized. surely they can understand, if the UK citizen didn't want to get married they wouldn't attend the interview???

after reading other post seems unclear if we need a notarized letter from both the US and UK citizen? we are thinking maybe we will take an unsigned letter of intent too and have the person at the interview witness it being signed, if this is required???!!!?

I'm not sure the "letter of intent" is a requirement at all. I think it's suggested on VJ as something to do, but not a DOS requirement. I think the UK citizen is fine without the letter of intent. The interviewing officer can ask in the interview if he has any doubt that you still want to marry the USC. And the UKC can explain the gap in the timeline between NOA2 and the interview if asked.

The I-129F instructions, Section 5. B. state,

Provide original statements from you and your fiancé(e) whom you plan to marry within 90 days of his or her admission, and copies of any evidence you wish to submit to establish your mutual intent;

They need to be original (not copies) and there is no printed requirement to be notarized (guides on VJ also state "Original statements"). Good luck!!

edit....

I just read your post again. You have your NOA2 and are at the interview. My above statement is for the initial I-129F filing (requirements). Obviously at the interview you (foreign fiance(e)) will be there. Bring a hand written note to be safe (they can add to your case if required). No harm or inconvenience!

Hang in there... Every day is one step closer!

My responses are derived from personal experiences and from the knowledge I have gained from others over time. I do my best but on occasion I could be wrong. Be warned! I am not a lawyer, I am an Engineer!
