One more year.

Another year and she will be 18, and then I can apply for an immigration visa to the U.S.

Another year of heartache before the real stress of going through the visa process even begins.

I got to see her this Christmas just gone. We had game hens and roasted vegtables for lunch. Two days after Christmas I was back here.

I know I'm being naive when I ask why we have to go through all of this to live in the same country. Why are we guilty until proven innocent?

Even cleaing customs in the US whilst on holiday there feels like one is being arrested. Hands on the blue panel for fingerprint scanning, look straight at the camera. Don't smile.

I try to suck it up and get on with things, but nights such as this all the darkness and doubt really creeps and closes in around me. If you are here, reading this, then I imagine you know exactly what I am writing about.

I'm unhappy and lonely. I miss her so much.

She doesn't have to be 18 in order for you the apply for her visa. Her parents could emancipate her. Unless of course I'm missing something here.

If you look at the poster's other topic, you'll find the answer.

Though, I can't seem to find an age limit on the fiance visa's petitioner.

Why don't you do a fiance visa? You wont come in with a green card, but you'll get there before this year is up, most likely.
