Jewish people really know how to throw some fancy parties I have to say. My friends bat mitzvah was more expensive and elaborate than any wedding I've ever been to

Bat mitzvahs are usually much wilder than bar mitzvahs for some reason.

the poncey jewish weddings are always my favorite. I almost died laughing when they brought out the challah though. this guy at our table started eating it and said "so is this like jew bread or something?"

Then he stated, "this would be great with some pork, got any?":rofl:

suzy I have a super simple challah recipe. do you have a kitchen aid mixer? that makes it waaaaay easier.

I used to but then Len took it away from me; something about me acting weird around it or something.

Im getting ready for service.....eat, eat, eat.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

People bring in dishes....usually pizza ( blah) and desserts. A lot of donuts, too.

6.5oz water (lukewarm)

.5oz yeast (that's two of the small packets)

1.25oz sugar

1oz veg oil

1 egg

.25oz salt

1lb bread flour

put water, yeast, and sugar in the bottom of mixer bowl. whisk together to dissolve yeast and let sit for a few minutes.

add in egg, oil, flour, and salt

use mixer with dough hook on low (I start on 2 and raise it to 4 once all the flour is combined) for 10 mins

remove from mixing bowl, form into a ball, and place in a bowl sprayed with nonstick spray. spray top of the ball with non stick spray too so it doesn't get hard on top from being exposed to air. cover with plastic wrap and a towel. place in a warm spot and let rise for about 1hr or until double in size. punch down the dough and then form it into the bread. all you do it make it into 3 equal pieces (you can make larger braids if you know how) and braid it like you would braid hair. cover with plastic wrap and towel again and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes. brush with egg wash (1 egg, lil bit of water, lil bit of salt).

bake at 350 until done

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Thanks Amby! :) That will be tomorrow's project!

The chocolate chip muffins are in the oven. I used to bake muffins all the time so the boys could eat them for breakfast or snacks but have gotten lazy with that lately. Their favorite is chocolate chip but they also like corn, oatmeal raisin, blueberry & coffee cake :) (that's my fav!)

I make them from scratch, no boxed mix. It's so easy and much cheaper that way. Plus I think it tastes better than Betty Crocker

Nagi ~ Donuts are my fav. I haven't mastered the art of making donuts, except for sugar donuts... those are easy. What I want to learn how to make is chocolate glazed mmmm

nooooooooooooooo....reading the class discussion boards. someone used "weather" instead of "whether"

spelling errors like that make me cringe

My granny used to make donuts. She called them Johnny Cakes. She's been dead for many years. Had she lived, she would be over 120 years old now. They were the best I ever ate. My sister had her recipe, but for some reason they just are not the same.
