I will send an email to ask. I think most of the people who work where my friend is are from SoCal, AZ, and IN.

I just got an update from one of the kids. She went to University of Portland. She might have worked with Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (or whatever the French version of that is).

If you have some time on your hands here is her blog. So sad :(

Im not asking for anything. Just remembering what HE has done. there is no shame in that.

Rememberance is fine but only when combined with gratitude. HE brought rain from my eyes to water the seeds of compassion, rememberance and wisdom in my heart for which I will always be grateful.

I just saw the pictures and I have trouble understanding why these things happen. It truly is tragic.

Oh, so the French version is Nos Petit Freres et Soeurs. Makes sense. Our little brothers and sisters. Sometimes I'm a little slow...

AMBY: Frankenstein story.

Lord Byron and his girlfriend, Claire; Percy Shelley and his wife Mary Shelley, and some other friends were staying at their fancy Swiss chalet. It was yucky blustery weather and the friends, who were all intellectuals and somewhat scandalous in England (different, yet very good story), decided that to pass the time with such awful weather they'd have a contest to see who could write the best horror story. But it had to be a story that had some symbolism. Remember, they were all Romantics and were all about the surreal and communing with nature and living in the moment (they were the British Transcendentalists).

So, off they all go to their separate chambers to write their masterpieces. The next afternoon they meet to share their stories and vote unanimously for Mary's story. Which was Frankenstein. She made very few changes to it before it was published. She was 17 at the time she wrote it, as well. Frankenstein is the very first science fiction novel. It's absolutely a commentary on what happens when men and science try to mess with what God has given.

Another story is that when Shelley died, Bryon, who was his best friend, and some say also his lover, was so distraught that before the funeral pyre was lit (he was burned on the beach in Italy) Byron cut out Shelley's heart and swam into the ocean with it. Supposedly Mary Shelley carried a tiny bit of it in a silver box on a chain around her neck for the rest of her life.

They were like rock stars in their time. Sexy, scandalous, ahead of the times, intelligent, and very very risque.

Here's a bit of trivia you can throw out to impress your teacher: when Shelley's body was found (he drowned) he had a book of poetry by Keats on him. Keats is another Romantic poet who died young of Tuberculosis.

Oh man, I LOVE this stuff! My MA is in British and Irish Lit and the Romantics were one of my areas of specialty for the English literature so if you have questions...

You just admired him for his HUGE...brain. Byron had a brain that weighed in excess of 5 lbs. :o Your affection almost sounds like the plot for Kate and Leopold. :P

I always thought that online classes precluded the sh*tting on the other students. Oh wait, this wasn't a practicum for a course on Cleveland Steamers and Pittsburgh Platters was it?

Good Morning!

I cant believe that i slept in til 7:45 am. That's a world record for me :P My son is bugging me to go see Avatar, i heard it's real good but long. I'm not one for sitting still for long periods of time. I also want to go to lunch at this Mexican resturant today. I dont think we can squeeze in both. Should I do what my son wants or should i finally do something what "MoM" wants for once??? hmmmm decisions..decisions
