"Dixie Bickel, who runs two orphanages outside Port-au-Prince with her daughter, Laurie, told NBC News that the earthquake was the worst she had experienced in her 19 years in the country. One of the orphanage buildings, four stories tall, visibly twisted for about 30 seconds, and babies were knocked out of nannies’ arms, she said."

hey chris, what are the pro/cons of a gravity table, and do they work for spinal decompression??? still have a little pain from a pinched nerve :crying:

sorry can't help w/ the finger

Well the theory behind it is one of two things.

1, It is creating spinal traction, which could alleviate pressure put on the lateral vertebral foramen (hole where the nerves come out of the spine) Sometimes you get a bone against nerve or muscle against nerve impingement, and this can lead to change in gate, spasms, sciatica, etc...

2, If you have any kind of disc damage. Because your discs are made of cartilage and are avascular they have no blood supply and with no blood supply there is no oxygen, no oxygen, no healing. Lumbar decompression machines have about an 85% success with lowering chronic lower back pain, but these are the machines administered by osteopaths and chiropractors and have a weight and pulley system. These machines are esp effective in the lumbar section of the spine. The theory is that because you are creating space between the disc's and the vertebra you are allowing oxygen/blood to enter to the cartilage tissue and thus facilitates healing through a regiment of treatments usually about 15 or so. I would not recommend getting the at home gravity chairs. If misused it can aggravate the condition severely, unless prescribed by a physician.

A weekly aggressive regiment of massage and lumbar decompression along with physical therapy has helped many ppl I worked with in the osteopaths office I worked in. I would only do this under the supervision of a physician. I have worked for a few Chiros and they are usually full of #######. Although, there are some good one out there. Go to a real doctor, like an osteopath.

 i dare you to say that on a chiro message board, they can get vicious!!!

I know they are bent on telling ppl they are doctors. Yes, they are doctors technically. But they never went to med school, huge difference.

I've even had a Chiro tell me that he didn't want his patients to get "too healthy, they might stop coming in".

I had others that just couldn't make enough money doing chiro work so they turn to these fad diets and #######.

A Osteopath does basically the same thing and can medicate if need be and actually went to med school. I'd take that any day over a Chiro.

I don't think so? the buildings are only 2 floors. I will call her sister again now.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.
