How long does it take to get a Social Security Card??

We applied for my SSN a week before our wedding. I had already been in the U.S. for 1 and a half months so I was already in the system. It took only a week (counting non-business days) to receive my SSN card in the mail.

The person who took my application had never processed a K-1 before but we didn't have any problems - she just tried and checked if the system would let her process the application and it went through ^___^ We were only there for a few minutes.

I think it also depends on how busy the SSA office is. We live in a relatively small town so the office probably doesn't process too many new applications.
