My fiancee just recieved her VISA, and now I am going to purchase the plane ticket. The only thing that I worry about is buying a plane ticket and it will be in my name, and they will want to check my ID, and my CC to pick it up. How can I purchase it, and get it in her name so she can get it with no problems? Thanks ahead of time.

I didn't think the purchase mattered, so much as when the ticket is USED. Like any purchase there's a "billing info" page. My husband bought my flight to Iowa with his card so his name was on the billing info but he entered my name in the "ticket details". I was emailed the "e-ticket" details which I gave at the airport when catching my plane. I simply entered the "confirmation" number into the auto screen and it bought up my details. Then I needed to show ID's to be given my "actual" tickets and then again when going through security the tickets were checked against my passport.

How exactly are you planning on doing it? Can you not go the e-ticket route? Is that not always the way it's done now?

Marty,

It does not matter who the purchaser is. Just list her name as the passenger. You will need to also provide her passport number and additional personal info requested. If you are using an airline ticket agent or travel agent they will help you. If yiou are using an online source - not sure - may have to call them. Any way Its no problem!!!!

Purchase the ticket in the passenger's name. Anything else would require a fee to change names.

That will not be a problem. You don't need to worry! :-) I've purchased tickets for my husband many times and have done the same for me.... Works on all major airlines. Congrats to the visa!!!

If the ticket is purchased online using a credit card then some airlines will require the credit card holder to be present at the airport and present the credit card and ID to the airline agent before they'll issue a boarding pass. I ran into this when purchasing a ticket for my fiancee. Fortunately, I was traveling with her so I could present the credit card when we checked in.

The easiest way to get around this is by purchasing the ticket in person, either at an airline office, a travel agency, or a ticket counter at an airport. As long as they can verify that the actual cardholder is purchasing the ticket then there shouldn't be any problem.

I used United Airlines and I booked my fiances ticket online under his name. I paid for the ticket with a debit card with my info and it worked out perfectly fine. It may depend on which airline carrier you use. When in doubt, call the airline directly and ask questions. If you are spending all this money on airfare, you have that right to ask questions! Good luck and may the rest of your journey be smooth!

I purchased a ticket for my British fiance (at the time) with my credit card and listed him as the passenger. There were no problems at all. No one ever asked him for my credit card. They are just checking the name on the ticket and making sure people's ID matches up.

The ticket needs to be in HER name exactly as HER name appears in the passport. Purchase an e-ticket and all she needs is the ticket code number when she goes to the ticket counter and her ID. we do this all the time. We buy tickets for our son in college in Moscow and simply email him the confirmation with ticket code. He takes his ID and goes to the ticket counter with the copy of the email qand code. We buy tickets in the USA for him to fly from Moscow to Donetsk, Ukraine, for example, or Moscow to Kiev to meet us. Or Moscow to JFK for school vacations, etc. Never a problem.

No problem. People buy plane tickets for other people all the time, all over the world.

Congrats on the visa approval!
