Where will Frankfurt send it?

The embassy at Frankfurt should have received the application last week. Will they send the next letter (packet 3?) to the beneficiary (hubby) or the agent (me)? Also, how long, typcially, will it take them to set up a date for the appointment? (I know that it will be 4-6 weeks for the interview, how long til they notify us is what I am wondering about.)

Thanks much o wise and experienced VJers. ;)

Packet 3 will be sent to your husband and he will need to complete the checklist and return it to Frankfurt. They will then send packet 4 which will include an appointment for his interview. Assuming he has everything ready and sends the checklist back right away, he may get an appointment within 2 weeks.... just depends.

Hey!!! My husband went through Frankfurt and he received his packet three like two days after they received it!!!! Frankfurt is extremely fast!! The packet four and interview may take a little longer but the first packet will come fast! Just make sure your fiance sends everything back as soon as he can because you can't get an interview until he does!! If you have anymore questions just let me know!! good luck!!!

Diana,

Please define "everything". I was told that only the checklist needed to be sent back immediately. The rest is supposed to be brought to the interview.

Thanks,

I am glad that you asked that because all of the documents including the checklist need to be filled out and sent back to Frankfurt. The items on the checklist itself will not be needed until the interview but the documents that are sent with the checklist need to be completed before the interview as well as the signed checklist. If you need me to more specific let me know this may sound confusing.

I think I'm following you... so there are two separate checklists, really.... the Forms that need to be filled out and returned with the checklist (for the appointment to be skdld) and then the other 'supporting docs', like proof of on-going relationship, copies of passport pages, etc. must be brought to the interview...

Right??

Exactly!!!! They are even going to send him another checklist with his fourth packet just so he can have something to follow when preparing his evidence!! My husband wasn't even asked for any evidence!! They are pretty cool at Frankfurt. Just make sure your fiance has all your financial documents! Thats is very important as well as his police certificate! Something that I did for my husband while waiting for the NVC and stuff like you are is I went to the Embassy Info part of this website, found out what documents will be included in the packet three, printed them and sent them to him so that he could have them filled out for practice. This way as soon as he gets the real ones he can just basically copy them and send them the next day to get your interview on the road!!

Frankfurt is an awesome Consulate. They are incredibly efficient and fast. During the summer, the number of immigration cases seems to rise slightly, which means that interviews are scheduled about three to four weeks after the Consulate received the DS-230 Part I, OF-169 Checklist, and the biographic page in your passport.

In my experience, the beneficiary should start collecting all of the necessary documents that apply in his or her case as soon as possible. If you want a list of those documents, then visit this page: http://www.usembassy.de/germany/visa/iv_processing.html. Click on the document checklist link to see exactly what documents should be gathered.

Once those documents have been collected, you should fax the biographic page in your passport along with the OF-169 to the Frankfurt Consulate. Also, you should mail your DS-230 Part 1 to the Consulate. Those are the only documents you need to send back to the Consulate unless otherwise instructed to do something different the Consulate itself.

You should hold onto all remaining documents until the interview.

It takes about a week after sending in the OF-169, DS-230 Part 1, and the biographic passport page until you receive your interview date, which will be included in Packet 4.

If you have any more questions, just ask. I have a lot of recent experience with this process. :)

Good luck!

Thanks so much!! I know this will all be clear when we actually GET the packet, but David does not have a printer and prefers to avoid the computer unless he 'has to' send an email to me.. ;) So we want to be prepared!!

Not to hijack this thread, but do any of the responders have any advice for my related thread:

In my reply, I didn't offer a clear distinction between the beneficiary and petitioner. For the sake of clarity, I will repost it in case anyone else sees this thread.

In my experience, the beneficiary should start collecting all of the necessary documents that apply in his or her case as soon as possible. The petitioner also needs to supply the beneficiary with some documents. My case was rather straightforward in that I had never been married. The only document that I had to give to my husband, the beneficiary, was the Affidavit of Support.

Make sure you read the Checklist carefully so you both know what documents you need to provide.

Once the necessary documents have been collected, the beneficiary should fax the biographic page in his or her passport along with the OF-169 to the Frankfurt Consulate. Also, the beneficiary should mail his or her DS-230 Part 1 to the Consulate. Those are the only documents that need to be sent back to the Consulate unless otherwise instructed to do something different the Consulate itself.
