Hello everyone I posted some weeks ago and asked a question if it would be possible for my fiance to get a visitors visa to come see our new baby. I had a girl. He wanted a boy so he can have a name sake, but I tried as much as possible to still give her his name. His name is Velroy James(we call him Velly), so i named her Vellyisha Jamese.I hope he is satisfied with that. However I do have another question what is the appropriate age that a newborn can fly. If he is not able I want her to see her daddy soon. Thanx

Most airlines accept them as soon as they are 1 month. You'll need to get a Passport for her as well so she can travel to Jamaica. I would not want to fly an infant at 1 month, just seems too soon! My son made his first flight to Brazil when he was 5 months. No problems with ears or sleeping!

You are asking VJ members and not your Doctor? Ask your doctor.

She was asking 2 qns:

1. Would he be able to get a visitors visa, and

2. What age is the baby allowed to fly

Neither of those questions require the assistance of a doctor (though it might be a good idea, it's not NEEDED and I doubt he knows anything about visitors visas) so I'm not sure why you're being snarky about it.

To the OP. He MIGHT be able to get a visitors visa but like any time he needs to prove ties to his country and somehow I can't help but think that visiting his fiancee and baby make him actually a bad candidate. HOWEVER, I have heard if you tell them and show them proof of your visa process they realise you're trying to go the honest route, and have money invested so you're unlikely to try and stay when you shouldn't.

As for the baby being allowed to fly, best to ask the airline you're planning on flying with, but like someone else said above I wouldn't want to fly with a newborn. And though the above quoted was a little rude about her comment, she did raise a good point. All children are different so I would get your baby checked by a doctor and ask their recommendation. There are these things called "Earplanes" that are supposed to be good in making sure ear pain isn't too bad but I don't know about shoving a foreign object in a newborns ear... they'll be doing that enough in years to come!

I hope your fiance is able to see his daughter real soon :D Good luck.

hi! i will add some input since i went thru this as well with our children.....visitor visa will most likely be denied if you have already started the K-1 petition and with him having a child in the states that is strong ties to the US that may prevent him from returning (that may not be the case but what the embassy will say.....we were denied twice for this exact reason even though my fiance has strong ties to jamaica including a daughter there)

as far as flying i waited to our interview to fly down with both of them and they were 5 months old and there was no problems.....we were denied our visa so we now make the trip down every couple months and the only hard thing now is that they are much more mobile and active and they dont want to sleep the whole flight like they used to (they are now 18 months old).....however i work for united airlines and i have checked in infants flying as little as 4 days old.....they (docotrs) recommend 8 weeks becasue of their eardrums but like i said i have seen infants as young as 4 days old fly and there were no issues (i of course asked how the flight went when they returned back from their trip and i saw them again).....i have seen many infants fly that are just weeks old in my profession with the airlines

i hope this info helps you but if you have any doubts then by all means check with your doctor

i like the name sake you did.....i sort of did the same for our daughter....his middle name is leon and our family namesake is leigh so i named her leighana (ponounced like leon-uh if that makes sense.....alot of people pronounce the ana part of her name as anna and i get so aggrivated and correct them immediatley LOL)

good luck to you mi gayl and hope you are all together as a family quickly!
