Question about co-sponsor ship

My parents are acting as my co-sponsor for my spouse. Seeing as they are doing so, does it even matter how much money I make? The reason I ask is because I am considering going to live with my wife in South Africa for a few months after my lease is up here. Obviously I won't have a job at that point, and don't plan on getting one in South Africa considering the rate of high unemployment and the limited amount of time I will be there. Will this even matter since I have a co-sponsor who makes well over the required amount?

Libersolis,

For visa and immigration purposes it shouldn't make any difference.

If you want to eat when you get back it might - are mom and dad just signing the paper, or is their checkbook open as well? (Rhetorical question, no need to answer.)
