1) I was on furlough from work for a month and missed 2 paychecks, but I'm back to work now.

2) My 25 year old stepdaughter has moved back home with us.

I count my blessings. 2009 wasn't a bad year.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

I became a US citizen :)

My husband got a promotion at work that means he now works longer and harder hours :):( ( happy for the promotion, sad for the longer hours)

We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary (hard to believe!)

We met a number of VJ members and their spouses in person - that was great!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

- had my best gift ever, my son, healthy and awesome happy baby

- my boobs sagged a bit more, but oh well, i had a baby

Worthless without before and after pictures!

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I guess a big event was going back to India and meeting my husband's family in person finally after being married for a few years. And it went well, too. :)

I actually wasn't ready for 2009 to be over yet when midnight came on New Year's Eve. I didn't want the holidays to be over.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Your post reminded me that I also traveled to meet my wife's relatives in the remote area of the Lake Baikal region of Russian Siberia in May / June 2009. It was the first time I had ever met them in person after being married more than 5 years. My then 24 year old stepdaughter went with us and it was the first time she has seen her grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins since she was a little girl. The Baikal region is far, far away from Belarus and even further from the USA. Not the kind of trip to be taken regularly.

Cool! I didn't have to go to a remote place at least hehe. Just an area near Mumbai.
