I'm surprised at how many from our little visa journey group actually end up relocating to Florida!

Mine was a fluke! It started out being Maryland. Or Mary Land as my BIL calls it. Then my husband got transferred midway through.

But, yeah! So great to see all the Canadians (and Mal  ) coming to Fla!

Bill drove all the way from Denver to Ontario to pick me up, stayed 3 days for my graduation and then drove me back. In total that's more than 48 hours of driving for him! Most of the drive is was really boring flat land like Iowa, Nebraska and eastern Colorado. There's not much to see other than crops and cows. I've gone to Florida and back and it was long, no doubt, but there are some pretty things to look at along the way. I made a deal with Bill when we first filled that I wasn't moving unless he brought his butt up and got me, so he made good on his promise  I was too scared to drive myself and I wanted to bring some of my things along.

At my AOS interview the officer made me promise I would stay with my husband because, he "didn't want to hear of me running away to Florida in a year"... :hehe:

What the heck?

I guess he didn't know that Canadians are allowed to snowbird down there without having to marry some random person in a State some 2,000 miles away. lol

 No kidding! I'm pretty sure I was one of the first Canadians he's ever seen, oddly enough. He flipped through my passport a million times then asked, "haven't you ever been to the US before moving on your Visa?!" I guess being a reference to the fact I didn't have any passport stamps. I also got a speech about marriage fraud and people just wanting to get to the US. I flat out said to him, "I love Canada, I wouldn't be here if I didn't love my husband" and that pretty much shut him up. What a nerd.

D'oh! Sometimes I wonder why they open their mouths when they don't know what they're talking about. They have no idea how stupid they appear.

That "multiple entry" thing must be an easy mistake to make on their computer system. When I went through, the first I-94 the officer printed out said multiple entry, but he caught it and called the older guy over and the older guy showed him how to do a single-entry I-94.

I'm glad yours went quick. My PoE officer took an hour and a half, flipping through reference binders and going through my entire file page by page before he did up the I-94 and let me go. Fortunately I only had another 5 hours of driving to do that day and had already made motel reservations.

Oh goodness, I'd have a hard time waiting on that. I was quite grateful that it seemed like our guy vaguely knew what he was doing, simply that he hadn't done it in awhile.

Congrats on your own POE.

Congrats! Guess that up to you if you want to travel outside the USA on the k1, but I do believe the k1 is a 1 time use. There was 1 cdn gal that came in on a K1 and did head back over to Canada multiple times with no problems, then on one occasion she got stopped and denied entry to the USA. The problem is that some POE guards no the rules, some don't, some enforce them, some don't!. Another poster mentioned k2?? isn't that for a child coming over accompanied by their parent who is on a k1? Congrats

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
