A US funeral parlour is offering free burials to people who plan to drink and drive on New Year's Eve.

McGuire, Jennings and Miller Funeral Home says drivers must sign a contract stating they plan to drink or use drugs and drive on December 31.

If they are then killed in a crash while driving on New Year's Eve, the funeral home, of Rome, Georgia, will bury them for free.

The free funeral will cover the preparation of the body, a coffin, a grave and a hearse.

A spokesman for the firm said its 'Operation Stop and Think' promotion was designed to save lives by making people think before they act.

How many signed up?

Most people under the influence don't plan on dying on a specific day so they aren't likely to plan for a funeral either because they tend to be on the young and invincible side.
