Turns out dinner at my in laws was pork indeed, but I mistook the cut choice, instead of leg of pork we had pork tenderloin which was fantastic! Some yucca and onion rice that was also delicious, and of course ... beeeeeeeer!

We just had roasted chicken and potatoes with plain yogurt and green beans followed by rice pudding for dessert. It was very tasty and not too terribly unhealthy.

I've never eated black eyed peas...not a tradition here in New England. In fact, I'm not sure there are any here - our family has never celebrated New Year's with any kind of a feast.

Nice! I've got it bookmarked. Allrecipes is pretty good, but you have to read through the comments to figure out whether the recipe as stated is good or not. Some of them are pretty bland.
